dylanjosh
Finished the game. Fantastic experience. Got frustrated by the combat in the later stage so toned down the difficulty. There are some invisible walls and sh*t during combat thats annoying af. One time I died and respawned in the middle of combat but Senua wasn't in "combat mode" so was walking around like normal with her sword sheathed. Their depiction of psychosis is excellent. I read some accounts of people really having Psychosis and they said it's very accurate, down to the visual colours and stuff. Such a great way to make other people understand what it's like. This is 100% a must-play game (for game pass owners) just for that aspect. Admittedly I should have paid more attention to the story since its a very important part of the game.

It's an example of what the gaming medium is capable of.

One of those games that stay with you for a while. Truly a unique experience with headphones on. The big multilevel puzzle area had gotten a bit annoying for me. But I suck at puzzles in general, so..

Yeah they've pretty much nailed the depiction of people suffering from psychosis. Very unfortunate condition, but glad to see the awareness of it being spread via this game. The hellblade feature video is so well made and it explains more about this condition. +1 its a must play game especially if you own the game pass. The story is so well done. Hands down this was one of my best games i played in 2020.
WhiteWolf
Very subtle differences. RT mode improves shadow reflection in certain areas. Not worth playing since frame rate gets capped to 30fps in RT mode. 60fps mode looks really good and way to play for SX n S owners

iamX
Late to the party here, just finished it. Why is this game not more popular? Beautiful setting, badass lead, great story, and the combat felt so fulfilling! And with the headphones on, it's one of my best gaming experiences so far. It's close to "Ashtray Maze" segment in Control but lasts the whole game, which is awesome. And such short length of credits, developed by a group of mere 30-40 developers, what a masterpiece!!

I also loved it. But I can understand it's not everyone cup of tea. Too harrowing with that darkness spreading in hand after each death - mechanic. But if you are able to finish it, it's quiet fulfilling.

But the darkness doesn't cause permadeath like someone rightly mentioned, so finishing it shouldn't be a problem. The puzzles can prove to be a little grindy though. Fulfilling game nonetheless. Vamos
14 minutes ago, iamX said: But the darkness doesn't cause permadeath like someone rightly mentioned This itself is meant to make the player feel like they’re experiencing psychosis and the fear of dying. When the player dies for 2-3 times and sees the rot climbing up, it makes them more fearful of death. And for those who just want to trigger permadeath and intentionally keep dying over and over again, will be in for a rude awakening when they find out it’s a bluff, again psychosis.
