VelivolusDas
Well, I guess, this is pretty much it for Silent Hills.... Guillermo del Toro is done making video games following Silent Hills cancellation Guillermo del Toro has revealed he's done making video games following a string of failed projects including inSANE and Silent Hills. Speaking at the San Diego Comic-Con recently (via Playboy), del Toro, who is perhaps best known for his work on Hellboy and Pacific Rim, explained that the process of working on games was a learning experience to which he's grateful for, but remained adamant that he won't attempt to have another stab at the medium. I have proven to be the albatross of video games, he said. I joined THQ [to make a game called Insane] and THQ went broke. I joined [Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo] Kojima [to make Silent Hills] and Kojima leaves Konami, so I have decided that in order not to destroy anyone elses life, I will never again get involved in video games. Otherwise, Ill work with someone and his house would explode or something, you know? With Insane we mapped it out, we did the bible, we did the outlines, we did the screenplay, del Toro added. We did a bunch of stuff to develop the world. So some of the tricks, or the stuff that I wanted to learn, I learned. And then I went to the side of Kojima-san because hes a master and I can gladly say we are friends and I love his work, and I will continue learning from him as a friend. But Im not joining another video game. If I do, World War III will start. No, never, he said, when pressed on whether he'd considering video game development again. I mean, it was an apprenticeship. I learned a lot from Kojima, of course, and I learned a lot from my experience on THQ. I did. It changed the way I see a narrative. We put two years of work on THQ with Insane. And what we were going to do with Silent Hills was going to be cutting-edge and scary. The Hollywood director did, however, say that he's open to having some creative involvement in the process---he just won't try be directly involved in developing a title. Im open to having developers make games, and I can hopefully be creative about it and I can be educated about it and talk about it in a way that helps them make the video game, but no, I cant make the game myself." Del Toro recently said that despite Silent Hills cancellation, he's still hoping to work with Hideo Kojima at some point in the future, although in what capacity remains to be seen. Shadoken
September actually. But man this game going down is such a bummer , it seemed like a genuine Horror game that could truly go mainstream. It got so much attention from the gaming media. roun90
You know something when games get canned they get canned They are not talked about again & again & again & again & then again Kojima Planted a Fake game To release right besides MGS5 by a fake studio & world class stage reveal at VGA- Check Kojima Planted a Fake teaser rapped around the megaton reveal of Silent Hills- Check Kojima Gave signs of him & his work being whipped around in MGS5 GZ short skit mission- Check Kojima Plats a fake Brain surgeon to perform worlds first head stransplant, which is some how connected to an MGS5 character- Check Kojima Gives a very sneaky & cryptic message at the start of the reveal teaser of Silent hills deciphering the events with him & Konami about to be unfolded- Check He obviously didn't create all that work knowing that it was about to be canned He created it coz he wanted to tell that he is coming back & bringing his "new Toys" with him hold tight till it's last light You are right, games cancelled are not talked about again and again. But the fact that PT and Silent Hills are talked about so much, even after some months of cancellation is a testament to how brilliant PT was and how much it was a pity it got cancelled. I still remember the reactions when PT launched and it was absolutely hilarious. It just caught the entire community in it's web, despite horror being a niche genre. The demo is just that brilliant and people just feel it's a pity all that potential got wasted.

Shadoken
Dont worry guys the game will come out after 15 years via Kickstarter and break KS record at the time. Oh wait wrong franchise. But yea Sony should just pick up Kojima,Del Toro,Reedus and finish up this game. They dont really need the Silent Hill name anyway so f**k Konami. Sony's new IPs this gen could use a title like this , nothing apart from Horizon have stood out much. This game was already in a playable state and people loved just playing a teaser , imagine the full game.
Shadoken
Oh Yea Bloodborne is great but its a Souls game in its heart. It has very different combat mechanics and atmosphere , but ultimately I wouldn't call it a new experience. P.T was exactly that , to me P.T was a new experience unlike before. Like how Uncharted,Demon Souls was for Sony PS3 era. PT could also very well be "The" new IP for Sony this gen. Sony Should pick it & just name it Silent Woods or something Or Quiet Mountains LMAO , but yea its a horror game. I am sure they can come up with a really awesome name.
