Synopsis

Until Dawn is coming exclusively to PlayStation®4 in 2015.

In an unpredictable and dynamically adaptive story, crafted in consultation with Until Dawn scriptwriters and indie horror auteurs Larry Fessenden and Graham Reznick, eight friends come together at a remote mountain getaway and embark upon a night of unexpected terror. Through the course of the night, anyone can live, anyone can die, and things aren't always what they seem. Twists and turns will keep you guessing right to the end as you play each of the friends. The decisions you make on their behalf will determine who survives Until Dawn.

With innovative choice mechanics and the Butterfly-Effect Interface, players can clearly see the path of their story amid the thousands that are possible. Seemingly insignificant choices as well as huge moral dilemmas that will question your sense of fairness, good and evil, can have major unforeseen consequences.

Using the power of the PlayStation®4 and the superior rendering capability of the Killzone Shadowfall Engine, together with our own major enhancements in lighting, camera, and animation systems, Until Dawn brings emotional and credible performances of a talented Hollywood cast to life in its realistically terrifying environments.

no way those facial shots are gonna be actual in-game shots.

Like Heavy Rain, they are using all the processing power to render HQ character models...QD uses this technique that's why you see extremely HQ facial model but sh*t looking environment nd all..lol

Here check the actual gameplay

it's a third person horror adventure game that's running on the Killzone: Shadow Fall engine with choices like Heavy Rain, or anything Telltale, which completely change the direction of the story and impacts who lives or dies.

And as expected Character models look great but everything else not that impressive

I dunno why they are using Shadow Fall engine and not nextgen Uncharted or QD's nextgen engine..SF character model are nothing special..imo

IGN preview sounds very interesting.

Take Eternal Darkness, Heavy Rain, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and the Saw films, put them all into a blender and it'll spit out Until Dawn, a third-person adventure-horror game running on the Killzone: Shadow Fall engine. This a cinematic thriller that jump-scared me no fewer than three times during a 20-minute playable demo, and I thank it for that

in my demo, Ashley and Chris discover clues that their eventual clown-masked captors see fit to torture the teens after somehow knowing every exact detail of some terrible, humiliating act they committed against their missing friend Sam the year before – recalls the basic outline of Jennifer Love Hewitt's star-making turn in I Know What You Did Last Summer. You'll encounter vague dialogue choices (i.e. responding as sympathetic or not to Ashley's fears) reminiscent of Heavy Rain. And the Saw influence? Well, Until Dawn has a bit of torture porn in it too.

Without spoiling too much (it would be criminal of me to ruin this scare-fest's surprises), Ashley and Chris are eventually abducted by an aggressor wearing a demonic clown mask – despite my brave attempt with Ashley to stab the kidnapper in the chest with a pair of scissors I'd picked up earlier. Both characters awoke, bound to chairs facing each other with a small table between them. On the table is a handgun. A distorted voice interrupts their terror over a speaker to announce that Chris can either kill himself or Ashley, and that the survivor will get to live. The situation is compounded by a pair of large, rotating power-saw blades hanging above their heads that begin slowly descending down (hello, Saw!). Chris tries in vain to shoot at the assembly, but to no avail. I pointed my gun at Ashley and...fade to black. Demo over. But I'm assured that anyone and everyone can die in the game, with the rest of the story being affected.

heavy rain/walking dead meets teen slasher flick. sign me up.

only major worry is supermassive's pedigree, but its also the first time they're making a full fledged game, so fingers crossed..
