Developer - Blue Brick

Engine - Unity

Platforms-- PC and Xbox One

In Superhot, players control an assassin and time itself, simply by walking – when you move, time moves. When you stand still, time halts, giving you time to plot out strategies for dodging flying bullets, picking up guns from the bodies of fallen foes, and shooting enemies in the face. Basically, you are The One, Neo.

If one of those time-controlled bullets hits you, you're dead, but The Superhot Team promises no reload screens; you're thrown right back into the action. Superhot has been on the scene since August 2013, when the team created it for the 7-Day First-Person Shooter challenge. It was Greenlit on Steam that September, and it received an Honorable Mention for the Nuovo Award in IGF 2014.

Very positive reviews. 86 on average.

Superhot is a highly effective expression of the gamer's neverending desire to perform cool action, but it also manages to perform some nifty narrative tricks as well. A clever, minimalistic, and totally badass indie gaming highlight.

It might look like a shooter, but Superhot's unique game mechanic - Time moves when you move - means the game plays out more like a puzzle. You'll punch, slice, and shoot your way through waves of red shapes and feel awesome while doing it. It's over pretty quick, but once you're done, there's still a whole host of challenge levels to tackle.

SUPERHOT is a game with an amazing gameplay mechanic (time), that is also bolstered by an unusual but interesting plot and equally curious art style. Unfortunately, hit detection issues compounded with SUPERHOT’s short-lived Story mode meant that once I’d given the additional modes a try, I was quite happy to put SUPERHOT down and move on.

Superhot is a groundbreaking idea wrapped in a slick, minimalist aesthetic. Though its gameplay offers little variety, it is fun and truly unique, and comes at a fair price.

Whether you dive into its meta narrative or rehearse the executions of eight ballroom guards for the sixteenth time, Superhot invents a tactical, first-person shooter genre to call its own. Please, Superhot team, I need more.

Effortlessly stylish, perhaps to the detriment of substance. But Superhot isn't one to miss.

The slow-motion combat might not be for everyone, but I found it to be just as exciting as any twitch-based shooter. Being in control of the situation at all times is exhilarating, especially when one wrong step could mean certain death. But don't worry, there's plenty of time to choose each step wisely.

Anybody tried? $22 is lot.

Game is amazing but short, its kinda like hotline miami where every move you make count.

Hoping for a proper game in the future based on this concept, the concept is very different and fresh.

Recommended to everyone who can tolerate its short length.

MIND CONTROL DELETE is a standalone expansion set in the SUPERHOT universe. It’s designed as a rogue-like twist on the linear nature of the original SUPERHOT. In it’s well proven genre-defining format, SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE distills and expands on the same intoxicating rhythm of slow motion combat. The game will force you through dozens of increasingly difficult time-moves-only-when-you-move gameplay challenges. Each challenge will make you more powerful and bring you closer to deciphering the secrets hidden from you by the system. As you unlock powerful abilities and gain access to new playable characters, so will your enemies grow stronger, smarter and more desperate to stop you.
