Buzz
What I do know is that it takes an in-depth understanding of the Cell architecture to make it pull off the kind of stuff we are seeing with Killzone, Uncharted and GoW3. Those are first party sponsored titles and Sony has spent a lot of time and money in helping these studios with harnessing the Cell. I dont think the Mafia devs and their publisher had the time or inclination to devote so much resources towards optimizing the PS3 build. They know its gonna sell the least of the three versions anyway. All three versions of Mafia II--PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360--will use NVIDIA's PhysX physics technology, publisher 2K Games announced today, with the PC version getting a "thorough integration" of PhysX plus some APEX clothing and particle effects. Buzz
Found this: Nvidia on Tuesday said it has signed a license agreement with Sony to provide PhysX technology for the PlayStation 3, whereby Nvidia becomes the official tools and middleware provider for Sony PS3. Nvidia's PhysX technology--based on the laws of physics--enables game objects to respond in a realistic way to physical events. More conventional technology uses a canned response, in which the same response is repeated over and over. For example, a window breaks, or a person falls the same way every time. In a PhysX-enabled football sports game, however, the angle and velocity of the impact is calculated by the graphics processor to generate a real-time response that is different practically every time. The agreement with Sony Computer Entertainment covers tools and middleware for the PlayStation 3. Nvidia is now an official Tools and Middleware provider for Sony PS3, according to Bryan Del Rizzo, an Nvidia spokesman. "This new relationship means a couple of changes in how the PhysX SDK for PS3 is managed. As a Sony Computer Entertainment Tools and Middleware provider, Nvidia will now be exclusively responsible for maintaining and enhancing the PS3 PhysX SDK," he said. Rizzo continued: "Additionally, while Sony has a license to distribute and support users of the binary version of the PhysX PS3 SDK, Nvidia will now be responsible for licensing the source code PhysX SDK for PS3 as well providing direct support to all source code-licensed PhysX PS3 developers," he said. "This newly announced tools and middleware relationship with Sony closely mirrors the licensing and support model that has existed for years with Microsoft and its Xbox 360 platform and complements our plans to support future console platforms." Nvidia described the SDK as "a full-featured (application programming interface) and robust physics engine, designed to give developers, animators, level designers, and artists unprecedented creative control over character and object physical interactions by allowing them to author and preview physics effects in real time." In December, Electronic Arts and Take-Two Interactive Software adopted Nvidia's PhysX technology. Link This explains the logo I guess.

How does it relate to what MT said? PhysX implementation is different and optimizing the game for cell is different. But I find it hard to believe that the demo is reflective of final build of PS3, its really half-baked, and looks like sh*t.

Does it appear in the xbox demo? Yeah screen shots of the ps3 exclusive DLC suggests that the final build will be better, but I will wait till I see it. Snake
So I've played the demo a few times and I think I totally dig the game now. I walked into the cloth shop, bought me some threads , shot the clerk and stole all the cash. Then I had this intense shootout with the cops in the showroom. After that I picked up the phone, bribed some cop and had my heat dropped. After that some random black dude on the street cursed me and opened fire. At first I was like WTF! Then I'm like WESTSIDE Motherfker and bust a cap in his a*s. Pretty soon his homies come down from the nearby building and shoot me dead. I was like WTF! Am I in Compton? Can't wait for the game now. Straight outta compton!!

Buzz
Yes, it does. Okay. I hope the final build for the console versions are good enough because I can't wait to play the game and I will have to wait till December to play it on PC
Right
I'm gonna settle for 360 version, don't have an option to play the PC version. I thought I will pick up a gaming laptop but they are quite expansive here and are flimsy compared to what one can import from US. Haha that's exactly what I thought of when you mentioned drive by, I think its the 5th 6th mission in San Andreas. it's quite early in the game, when you are coming back from that fast food joint. That sequence was epic. Fck someone HDfy SA pronto.
