Steam not downloading games

Hey!

I bought retail copy of CS: GO today and decided to install it on my PC. Only to find that Steam isn't installing the game. I thought there was something wrong with the CD so I tried installing it through the internet but again, not installing. I find out that it is not installing or updating any game. I redeemed my game just fine and am able to do almost everything that I can think of right now, except install/download/update any game. Even the ones pre-installed.

Check out this screenshot

Now, I haven't really used Steam much because for the past 1 month, my internet was practically dead. I changed to a new ISP (Spectranet) and today was the first day I connected the machine (through a wifi receiver) to the new internet. Could that be the issue? I am able to download torrents and all though.

I also deleted clientregistery dot blob file but nothing happened.

Refresh your Steam files

presuming windows

Completely exit the Steam client.

Open the run dialogue by pressing windows key + r (you can also navigate here from the start menu by typing run).

Type steam://flushconfig then press enter. (If asked to allow this website to open a program, please click Allow or OK).

Restart your computer.

Now, launch Steam directly from the installation folder, not from a pre-existing shortcut (~C:\program files (x86)\Steam).

The Steam application will either appear as Steam or Steam.exe depending on whether your settings show file extensions.

Still getting the first message (corrupt download)... It's not installing or updating.

Delete all files from steam folder except steam.exe and steamapps folder.

Restart PC

Run steam.exe

It should remove old files and update automatically.

Report back.

Also, change download region to US and see.

Steam -> settings -> downloads -> download region

Okay, so, after 2 days of beating my head to the wall, I have been able to figure out this:

Steam is working fine on my sister's laptop. It is my DLink DWA 132 USB Wifi Adapter that is giving me troubles.

Does anyone know what to do about this? Please help!

Are you using steam beta ?, trying opting out of it , if not try opting for it. Also can you try shifting your steam directory , if it's installed in38 gb partition shift it to the 200 gb one or vice versa .

You could try this

Windows XP/Vista/7/8
Completely exit the Steam client.

Tried them all. It doesn't work on either my desktop or on my sister's laptop through the USB dongle. If I directly download through wifi on the laptop, steam works fine. The dongle works fine if I connect it to my MTNL connection instead.

I have called Spectranet people and they will see if they can resolve any issue from their side. But I highly doubt it. It seems I will have to buy a new dongle only.
