the court instructed the big green to pay $30( :giggle: ) to GTX 970 owners

In DX11 games nvidia is better, as their driver has less CPU overhead. Speaking from personal experience as I have 1055T and I upgraded from 280 to 1060.

To add, for older CPUs, nvidia is better even in Vulkan:

Vulkan on older CPUs reverses the trend. 1060 beats 480 handsomely:

This video is a very good analysis of what is happening in AMD vs nvidia when it comes to APIs:

Damn AMD has priced RX470 at $179 but most models are around $200.Performance is on avg 10% below 970 and and 17% below RX480.

There goes all hopes of it priced at $150 or 15k INR.Now get ready to pucker up and pay close to 20k for it. Overpriced is what it is.

^ If you are paying that much, why not just get an RX480 / GTX1060?

Yeah exactly but AMD has not yet announced the pricing in India so if its atleast 6k cheaper (around 17k) then it's still a good buy but if it's too close to 1060 then forget it.

In that case only the launch of 1050 will make AMD cut the price. I hope we get 1050 sooner rather than later.

The Asus 970 is selling at 20k courtesy of MD computers.

Looking at the above perf chart even at 20k,970 is worse perf/rupees than 1060.

For the RX470 to have better perf/rupees than 1060,it will have to be atleast 16k.

The $180 pricing really messed up the value of RX470. Sapphire Nitro is $200.Its absolutely nonsense pricing by AMD.

Wow great. The indian prices actually starts at 15,990 and this particular model is 16,990.Pleasantly surprised although these are reference cards that nobody wants so custom models will be 18k and above which is still a shame.Oh and those 8gb models? 20k. :(

For 1080p 4gb should suffice anything higher than that only requires 6 or 8 gigs of vram.

Nothing like that.

Games like Mordor with very high-quality textures will happily fill all the buffer RAM offered to them.

^ No, there are more than enough titles to justify higher frame buffers. Plus the cost difference is almost a non-issue.

Plus higher V-RAM variants of the same card will be able to pull off stuff like DSR better. I would almost always recommend DSR over anti-aliasing because of the overall sharpness you get minus the performance penalty.

Almost always?

If so which DSR - Factor (from NVidia CP) is enough to use instead of anti-aliasing in games in your opinion? I will apply it from tonight onwards! :D
