It's still a good card. Not vfm now but still will serve you well at 1080p for 2 more years.

Btw I installed GTA V. Holy sh*t it runs at 60 fps on max settings.

Except Far Cry Primal, everything I tried runs at 60 fps on max settings at 1080p. Primal runs at 40+ fps.

Older games like Max Payne 3 run at 60fps on 1440p.

970 is still a good card. Don't overclock it if you have never overclocked before but yeah after overclocking it performs pretty close to 980.

Just reduce some settings, it will easily last 3 more yearz

Back in Feb for around 25k.

Ok.. so gtx 1060 was unknown during that time.. nothing you could have done..

not to worry though.. since the 970 is still better than rx 470 and in some scenarios it tops the rx 480 too at the moment..

No need to worry about dx12 performance too since it will atleast 1 more year till more games start providing dx12 support..

It should easily last you 2 more years @1080p gaming with some settings dialed down..

The 1060 performs on par with the 980 so you should expect good frames.. You should even try DSR and check out the performance.. 6gb should serve good for a long time..

I have heard that the 970 wen over clocked to max performs close to the 980. True?

From what I have seen, only the gigabyte g1 gaming 970s overclock nicely.. I wouldn't expect zotac ones to provide such overclocking performance..

The thing is 970 has only 1664 CUDA cores.. So you can't expect it to generate the performance of 2048 CUDA cores by overclocking..

RX460 reviews are out.Official pricing is $110 for 2gb onwards going upto $150 for 4gb models.

Performance is hard to figure out because some reviewers were sent basic 2gb models while some were sent heavily overclocked 4gb models like Asus Strix.

The 4gb Strix comes pretty close to GTX950 in DX11 and beats it easily in DX12 but costs way too much. The basic 2gb models are slightly faster than 750Ti but very much below the GTX950.

Some models like Strix have 6 pin pcie connector and draw upto 90W while some will not have 6 pin required and should be within 75W.

Am still waiting for Techpowerup review to see the performance summary chart.

But it looks like its not very good VFM.The 2gb models should start at 10k but aren't futureproof while 4gb will too expensive at 13k but atleast you get the extra vram to last 2-3 years.

But the main problem isn't even GTX950,its RX470.For only 5k more you would get almost double the performance in RX470.Specifically paying 40% more to get 70-100% more performance depending on the game.

Used CUDA core as a reference to highlight the hardware differences.. :)

What I meant was with overclocking, you can't achieve what a more beefier hardware can achieve..

Which is all well and good if that comparison made sense.

The problem is that the GTX970 has 56 ROP units compared to the GTX980 having a complement of ~64 while the GTX980Ti and GTX TITAN X had a full chip carrying ~96 of them. While the CUDA core count of them is, 1664, 2048, 2816 and 3072 respectively.

A stock GTX980 will be matched by a decently clocked GTX970 because on a hardware level the two cards are almost neck and neck. While the TITAN X and GTX980Ti being full fledged chips will always be markedly superior to the former simply because the hardware on them is the full fat not because the CUDA core count keeps going up.

If I can be bothered to import it, the 460 would make a nice little HTPC card at ~100$. The power draw is pretty good too. Currently using a nvidia 650 as the HTPC GPU and while I have no problem with video content, it just cant do games anymore. Then again, the CPU is a bottleneck too.

I think the main problem is the direct Dollar to rupees conversion. I think the 2GB version retails for 99$ which would translate to about 6.7k. Here its basically double of that. The 950 itself was ridiculously priced as well. None of these cards need to be a rupee above 10k.
