So when can we expect them to release in India and at what price?

Expected price slots,

270x is priced around 18000₹

280x is priced around 24000₹

If the R9-290X sits around ~45000/- <-->55000/-, AMD has another winner up their sleeve.

AMD Radeon R9 290X arrives October 24th, R9 290 October 31st

AMD-R9-290-series-launch-dates.jpg

It seems we finally have a confirmation of Radeon R9 290 series launch dates.

According to the post from Cardpu Radeon R9 290X will arrive tomorrow on October 24th and Radeon R9 290 will be released a week later. This information is straight from AMD employee Chris Li.

Of course I told you both dates almost a week ago, so there shouldn’t be any surprises.

Additionally here’s my source, also confirming the launch date:

By the way, I wouldn’t use words like “soon” or “in few days” when in fact we are waiting more than ten for the first card to appear.

Should this thread be renamed to "Graphics card discussion thread"?

so we can post nvidia graphics card news here too.

Alleged NVIDIA Maxwell Architectural Specifications Unveiled – Project Denver To Appear in Maxwell Refresh?

NVIDIA Maxwell GM100:

The NVIDIA Maxwell GM100 chip would consist of 8 GPCs consisting of 24 SMX modules (3 SMX Per GPC), 384 TMUs, 6144 Cuda Cores, 8 MB of L3 Cache (8 L2 cache’s per GPC), 64 ROPs, a 512-bit interface followed by a VRAM upto 8 GB GDDR5 operation at around 6 GHz. The GM100 is supposed to replace the high-performance GK110 chip so its going to end up in both GeForce parts and Tesla parts. It will probably show up in the Tesla parts first before shipping to consumers.

Clock frequencies would be maintained at different levels for each product tier as listed below:

  • GeForce GM100: 930 MHz Core / 1 GHz Boost
  • Tesla GM100: 850 MHz (2.61 TFlops DP)
NVIDIA Maxwell GM104:

The NVIDIA GM104 would replace the current GK104 chip which we have come to know and love since the arrival of the GeForce GTX 680.

This chip would feature 5 GPCs with 15 SMX units featuring 3840 Cuda Cores, 240 TMUs, 40 ROPs with a 320-bit interface coming out with 3 GB VRAM (possibly 2.5 GB as done with Fermi) clocked at around 7 GHz for the memory and 1 GHz for the core.

NVIDIA Maxwell GM106:

The GM106 would be replacement for most of the sub $249 Kepler chips such as the GeForce GTX 660 and GeForce GTX 650 Ti / Boost that were based around the GK106 core architecture.

Specifications wise, these chips would see a massive uplift from 960 cores maxed on the current Kepler generation all the way to 2304 ALUs on the GM106 parts. These would be arranged in 3 GPCs which will consist of three GPCs. Like the GM104, the GM106 would feature 4 MB of L3 cache, 144 TMUs, 24 ROPs and a 192-bit interface with 3 GB VRAM operating at 7 GHz clock speed.

Should this thread be renamed to "Graphics card discussion thread"?

I would need to talk to the MOD's for this. It would necessitate starting posts to be appropriation-ed to me.

And structural changes in the opening post itself.

Anyway, let me see what can be done. Cheerio!

There have been a few threads in the past in "TechZone" pertaining to graphics cards. However, this thread could serve a purpose by being morphed into a graphics card discussion thread.

Alpha, I'd ask you to take responsibility for ensuring all future discussions pertaining to graphics cards be redirected to this thread. If this thread is gonna be a 'catch-all', let it work that way.

Well, the powers that be have spoken.

Let me edit some things then.

Will update the OP accordingly. Cheerio!

Also, to any MOD / ADMIN reading this, please transfer this thread to the Techzone please. Cheerio!

At present, this thread is serving its purpose quite well. I expect activity until all "Hawaii" cards are launched, reviewed and benchmarked (another month or so). Haswell cards could have their own discussion until release.

But I have to admit I kinda like the idea of having a "(New and Upcoming) Graphics Cards Discussion Thread".

  • As long as it pertains to discussions around rumours, launch dates, variants, price drops
  • And the all-important AMD vs Nvidia offerings discussions
  • Also, GPU discussions can be isolated from discussions on other components as far as gaming is concerned.
  • Wouldn't want to disappoint Alpha by turning down this proposal, look how excited he is :P

Discussions like "should I buy 290x or Titan, I currently have a Core 2 Duo with 2GB RAM" : do those go to Gaming PCs thread or stick here?

Ideally I would like such queries to be in the Gaming PC / PC Ask The Expert thread please. We can always redirect peeps if they are in the wrong sub-section.

P.S. -- You got PM. Reply, please. :notangel:

We can re-purpose this current thread for the same. Change couple of things in the OP and I shall maintain to the best of my ability with all support.

Also, can add things like latest drivers, BETA drivers for specific releases and so on.

This thread should remain here. Techzone serves a more 'support and queries' role.

I agree. Renaming thread to "Graphics Cards Discussion Thread"

Pretty sure they will give away Witcher 3 next year coz it's using some exclusive Nvidia tech ?...

This is not what bundles you get with your graphic card thread.

And does this mean, you are postponing your upgrade again?

This is the right place to post any such deals, offers and price/availability changes.
