Well hello thar CC, just saw your signature, we have the same GPU. Water cooled? OCed to R9 280x or what?

Wow those are some terrible benchmark figures. I guess going from 2-3GB to 4GB itself is considered a major upgrade for Nvidia

16 % over 290x improvement in perfomance at just 165 or so watts ,whichever way you look at it ,thats impressive on perf/watt front.

the architecture advantage that nvidia has is pretty evident here.

That is like saying that the current crop of Haswell processors have a huge advantage over the Sandy Bridge processors two generations down.

 

The performance / watt has gone up but the actual gains are non-existent.

Yeah 290 OC'd to 1200/1600Mhz, gives me about 12.5k GPU score in Firestrike and 68-70 in Heaven 4.0 (higher than stock 780ti). Switched from Nvidia, couldn't be happier.

... and plays mostly Dota 2 on it.

we all knew what this was going to be and its exactly what Nvidia dished out. Though 970 at that price,seems like a good deal.
