Gaming Lounge opening suggestions and queries

Hey Guys.. My friend is planning to open a gaming lounge here in chennai. Though we have sorted out finance, place, model etc, we recently came to know that a gaming lounge needs permission of chennai police to be obtained in commissioner office and not from respective circle office.

The people in police stations suggest to take the premises on rent and then we need to apply formally.

They further add that its difficult to get license and that we would need good recommendation and the license may not be granted even then..

Taking a premise on rent requires to give 10-12 months rent as advance to land lord. So after taking the premises if they dont give license or drag the time, it would incurr heavy loss to my friend.

Any suggestions are welcome esp from those owning a gaming centre/lounge.

Thanks a tonne :-)

Obtain a certificate from your local GAC office, should help in the license.

JK, didnt know that opening a gaming centre can be a PITA, i wont be surprised if they put in the gaming parlours and gaming centres in same category

Probably yes.. Have worked for a long time to set this up

they probably got confused between a gaming console parlour with the other local video game outlets (slot machines, poker etc) which needs a license and is not easily available.

Ya ive read court decisions that they can only regulate and cannot do away with opening a business. This was for a massage parlour. If massage parlour is being accepted, gaming lounge should also be accepted imo :-)

Make sure there are lots of FIFA, CoD discs, make sure every PC has DotA and LoL (just like Blur) because no one gives a single f**k about any other game.

Sincerely

A pissed off fighting game fan.

On topic though, why does a video game parlour need that much regulation? I'm sure the cops are mistaken. I'll ask my friend who's Dad is IG of police or something and let you know if he replies.

In India "videogame parlor" means those gambling places

like slot machines etc

They actually have arcade type games on which they bet money

Lol at this Ps3 gaming parlor i used to visit WWE 2K14 was popular.Dunno if it is considered as a fightig game though

I have a gaming parlor in my area which has been on for ages.In fact my granddad financially helped the guy to build the shop which was 1st a grocery store.

When he died his son made it a gaming parlor which has been on from I think 1986.

I get all my ps3 rentals from this dude with minimum amount

Charges inside the parlor are like

Rs 5 for 10 mins of any ps3 game

Rs 2 for 10 mins of any ps2 game

50 paisa for 10 min of any Nintendo nes game
