ALPHA17
Sony Online Entertainment sold, rechristened Daybreak Game Company "Today, we are pleased to announce that we have been acquired by Columbus Nova, an investment management firm well known for its success with its existing portfolio of technology, media and entertainment focused companies," the MMO publisher formerly known as SOE revealed in a statement. "This means that effective immediately SOE will operate as an independent game development studio where we will continue to focus on creating exceptional online games for players around the world, and now as a multi-platform gaming company. Yes, that means PlayStation and Xbox, mobile and more!" The price of the acquisition by Columbus Nova, which in no way sounds like an affordable hatchback and/or stripper, has not been revealed. We've reached out to the former SOE for further detail on what this means for their current and future games. Source: SoE via PCGamer

El Tigre Chino
PlanetSide 2 to Xbone. Yes! Smart move by Sony. Uncertain about how this would pan out for SOE though.
KnackChap
Uncertain about how this would pan out for SOE though. good for them too. its better to be sold than to be closed down. SOE was a curious case TBH. they were never really a part of sony WWS, sony never ever game them any spotlight at any gaming conference and they too never really bothered with the playstation consoles much. NameSubjectToChange
Sony is bleeding money after all, selling off their f2p studio doesn't seem very shocking.
Heaven Angel
WTF, Sony should know by now that their gaming/mobile divisions are the only division that can save them from big losses and they both have already shown wonders for them. Sad move as they could've done so much more with it.
ALPHA17
^ Considering SoE content is mostly F2P titles on the PC, I do not see how it figures in the whole theory of saving SONY.
WhiteWolf
What will happen to other SOE games like DC Universe online nd all? DC Universe Online is owned by WB games right?
ALPHA17
^ Everything will carry on unless the company runs out of funding or their world becomes abandoned in favour of some other title.

NameSubjectToChange
Lot of people seem to be excited for upcoming EverQuest Next... If it ever comes out. Aren't they too busy with Landmark & H1Z1 right now? They bit more than they could chew, which is why I think Sony let 'em go.
WhiteWolf
Have you tried H1Z1 ? It looks like complete DAYZ ripoff...
NameSubjectToChange
It is a rip off. Though I'm not going to be playing it anyway as they're asking for money for an early access to eventual free to play title. That's the worst kind of monetization right alongside with micro transactions in non f2p games.
KnackChap
since some people were suddently interested in SOE games. Big Layoffs At EverQuest Studio Today http://kotaku.com/big-layoffs-at-everquest-studio-today-1685243961 reddit has a list of people who were sacked, EQ next seems to be the hardest hit, with the producer, lead designer. quest designer etc all being removed. http://www.reddit.com/r/Planetside/comments/2vmbgc/master_list_of_developers_affected_by_the_layoffs/
