Anshul
Official Pricing of the new canon models. EOS 1100D 18-55 30590 EOS 1100D 18-55 IS 32590 EOS 600D body 46990 EOS 600D18-55 IS 50990 Terrible pricing tbh. The 550D is far better at 35K and the Nikon D90 is a much much better buy at the 50K price point.
Ne0
Wife bought Nikon D3100 in US....wait begins until her arrival (end of april) :| Edited March 15, 2011 by Ne0
Death Stryke
Nice buy Neo. Tell her to get a 50mm f1.8 too. Would be a useful in addition to the kit lens. @Anshul Completely agree. 600D is a fricking ripoff at 50k. Luckily the 550D has fallen to 35-36k which makes it a tempting buy at that budget. The articulating screen of the 600D is nice, but doesn't justify the huge bump. Rest of the fluff touted as features are all best done using any photo editor. At a budget of 50k, the Nikon D90 is the camera to get, if video isn't imp.
'AL'
so the 550d is 35k with kit lens or only body??

Let me first fiddle with the available options .... baad mein upgrade !
Death Stryke
@Neo Acha. coz the lens i'm talking about is probably just 100 dollars (for canon yes and 99% for Nikon too. Search for nikkor 50mm f1.8) Its a must have lens for low light photography/portraits and its cost is hardly anything so its worth a buy even if its the first SLR simply coz its dead cheap. I would also suggest the 55-200mm f4-5.6 lens but that can wait. @AL 35k with kit lens, 4GB card etc, which is why its such an attractive price. It used to be 43-44k with the kit lens before AFAIK. At this price, the 550D is an absolute no brainer over any other SLR. Of course, nikon fans would tilt towards the D5000, but to each their own. Heck, the 1100D launching at 32k is also a fail when at 3k more u get a faster and better built cam. Death Stryke
D3000 is an excellent cam. if you are a beginner, dont worry, the cam will serve u well for a long time. U can easily upgrade it later on. In other news, The powershot G11 has been given to my sister, and I have got this Got it for a killer price of 35k with kit lens. Finally after a long time I took the plunge. I was on the fence for a long time coz I already had the powershot G11 which is quite a stonker itself, but my sister was wanting a decent powerful PnS, I took the opportunity then and gave mine to her, giving my conscience a perfect excuse

Anshul
Congrats DS ! it's a steal at 35K. And I finally received the 16-35.
Death Stryke
@Al Bro the 600D has released now. It is taking over the old price of the 550D i.e 47k (49,990 is the MRP). And the price of the 550D has fallen hence. the 600D's main USP is articulating lens but unless you are heavy into video it wudnt make a difference. The 550D thus got a hugee price cute. Along with me another person was also buying the same camera when he heard of the price cut. 35k is totally worth it. Although big retailers like Croma etc r selling at 37-38k, I would suggest getting it from a reputed small shop for best price. @Anshul thanks bro. Brilliant lens Can u list all the lens u own. I've seen ur flickr profile and u own a massive telephoto as shown in ur disp pic.

I've seen ur flickr profile and u own a massive telephoto as shown in ur disp pic. That's the 70-300 VR. Looks huge because it was shot with a wide angle lens. Objects (the lens) close to the camera look big and objects further behind (my face) look small. The third lens is a sigma 50 1.4 Those 3 are enough for me. Will rent a 600mm rocket launcher for safaris though. Edited March 17, 2011 by Anshul

Bulovski
35k for 550D is excellent price. From where?
Death Stryke
Any local shop. Avoid the big retail chains. Go to a small shop to get the best price. Croma was selling it for 38500 and the other big guys in malls for 37500. I picked it up from a popular dealer here, so i got this price. ctrl_alt_del
@Anshul: Are you using a studio-kit of some kind for those individual shots of lens or is the lens placed on a white cloth/towel?
