@sherry, I find your pictures lacking clarity/focus. Maybe you can do some post processing or I don't know if you can do something while taking the photo itself. Hope you don't mind the feedback !

@others,

I've in my posession a D3100 now. Good for starters I guess. As of now I'm playing around with preset modes (portrat/child/landscape/night etc). I'm very much interested in learning the ropes of photography. If anyone in blore, is going out for photoshooting on weekends or attending photo trips, do keep me informed. I would very much love to join and learn :D

^^ bought it from US. Cost me around 22k(including kit lens). With memory card and bag, I think overall it was 24k. Its good enough if you want to learn the ropes. But I find this camera quite good, the interface is easy to understand and navigate. It takes excellent photographs under dark light with almost no blurring. I'm not too much of an expert myself, to compare between canon/nikon. Overall as of now, I can say D3100 meets my needs.

I think the Indian official price is around 32k (including kit lens+camera bag+4 GB card).

Oh, I thought you bought it from Bangalore. The guy near my place selling it for around 33K(incl kit lens, bag and card)... Thank you for the information. I was inclined more towards D5100. I am also kind of a beginner only. As you mentioned D3100 good to begin, I think I will go for same.

If you don't mind telling, where do you stay in Bangalore? I live in Whitefield. :)

D5100 is 34 35k on Flip kart. If you are ready to spend above 30k, the nikon d5100 or canon t2i are the ones to get with eyes closed.

Between canon and nikon, choose what fits your hand better and you get better grip. Both are good and since you are a beginner, the brand shouldn't make a difference to you.

Flipkart, yes I have seen the price. But the thing is, for these kind of goods I like to personally see it and then buy it, or someone on my behalf buys it for me. Even if they provide a cash on delivery thing, still I won't get that satisfaction.

Thanks for the information though. :)

I really like people giving feedback on my pictures cos they give chance to improve, so no hard feelings :)

I actually compressed the picture badly to post it here, didn't want to overload the server ... You can find the relatively high resolution pictures in my flickr account http://www.flickr.com/photos/sherinjose/

the original file is around 6 mb, which is really sharp. Also, i have made a poster of some of these pictures and framed it in my room and the result is really good :)
