Went to GK Vale today to buy a camera with Nikon D3100 in my mind. The person there said that go for Canon 1000 instead as it has ISO 6400 and other devic 4 technology for shutter and all.. Could not understand much.

Nikon D3100 - Rs 31000/- approx

Canon 1000 - Rs 29000/- approx

Any suggestions on which one should I go for? please help.

Some offer is going on valid till tomorrow End of day only. They are giving one Tripod, a reebok watch free in addition to the bag, 4 gb card and 18-55 lens.

He's just talking out of his a*s. Dont bother with all that. Prima facie, it looks like you aren't well versed with camera tech and photography and just want to learn and take good pictures.

So dont bother with all this and just get any camera that feels good in your hand. I have no idea how many times I've repeated this :-/. If your budget is 30,000 max, you have 2 options the 1100D and D3100. Both just as good, and will do the job for you for a long time.

Although I read the 1100D has a very plasticky build, so I figure the D3100 should be better built.

DS bro, yeah I remember you telling about the grip in the previous threads. The first thing I checked was the grip only. I didn't feel much of a difference. yes, you are right about the plasticky build of canon.

Guess, I will go with D3100... Thank you

^^ Good call on going with 3100, I find it awesome to use. BTW need some tips on composition and post processing. Which photo editing tool is recommended which can help newbies in correcting the noise , removing background etc ? I tried photoshop, I was overwhelmed with the no. of options available there :ko:

For composition go to kenrockwell.com. For post processing I prefer Lightroom 3. Very easy to use with all the options laid out properly. A little practice and you'll start flying through post processing.
