Since u want good family photos, try also getting the Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens. Its also available on flipkart and sells for 5000 something. That lens is the best and cheapest lens for great portraits. But, the kit lens is useful too dude, for wide angled shots. The 50mm is strictly for portraits. Don't expect to capture any buildings, landscapes with it. @Avkash thanks bro. No HDR.
