of course we know that :P

and you did not answer whether you had clicked that water drop, it is still hard for me to believe that

Thanks bro. I use Aperture btw, u r a mac user too right. Simple and damn easy to use for me. Only thing is it just chugs along on my c2d mbp.

I am planning to get Aperture as well, I am not much of a Photo Editor so I really do not know whether it will be as noob friendly though

there's a 1k discount coupon code in the letsbuy thread. and honestly i would suggest wait for a couple of years for the purpose you're looking for.

Guys, please forgive me for posting a point-and-shoot query on a page full of very depressing (as in "if only I could afford a camera like that" depressing) DSLR pics :fear:

But, I URGENTLY NEED ADVICE on a point-and-shoot digital camera in the sub-10k range. I don't care too much about megapixel count but something with decent picture quality and decent pics in low light. Atleast it has to be better than my N79 and Nexus S' 5 megapixel camera sensors :P

Please advise. Was considering an Olympus 940/930 X (not sure of the number) around 6k. Alternatives / comments please. :)

Thanks megz. She is my niece, but yea, bundle of joy definitely :)

@gaurav

As i said on twitter, pony up for the SX130IS. U won't regret it. U get SLR quality pics if you know what you r doing.

And good low light / night shots?

Also, if I'm told firmly to STFU and stay in budget what do I do? Is there anything at all in budget that is acceptable at the very least if not AWESOME image quality. I'd atleast like to pick the best of the worst if it comes to it rather than get an absolutely shitty camera if I'm forced to buy at 6-8k :( . Problem is I'm not allowed to use any of my contest monies (could afford a good DSLR with that much) on 'unimportant stuff in your first 2 years of graduate studies like a camera'.

:rofl:

sub 10 will get you a decent Sony point and shoot, that is all to you need as you say, the flash is insane as well.

Any recommendations on the Sony P&S front? Cos whenever I think "P&S camera" the S goes out the window for an O automatically. :( I'd rather use a phone camera but then everybody says even a cheap point and shoot will be better than a phone camera :|

All the sub 10k ones look more or less the same to me. Should I concentrate on finding a lower megapixel count - higher price to make sure the image sensor inside is not too bad or is that no way of telling that the camera's half-decent? Should I as well just chuck it and get the highest MP rated cam I can find at that price or getting something for 5k :P
