woah!!! plenty of photographers here!! a few really awesome pics too!!!

I got me a D5100 with nikkor18-105 & 50mm and Sigma 70-300mm lens (very goddamn noisy and almost useless without a tripod at maximum zoom but clarity is impressive though)

get ready for a flood of photographs ...

shot RAW in the dark with the Sigma 70-300mm at full zoom and in macro mode. oh .. and also processed in Lightroom.

BTW .. i really feel post processing though it makes the images look much better, is like cheating ... everything can be processed ... even the composition .. :\

There are so many DSLR's walking around with people these days.

I think flowers and beggars/poor children of India are the most photographed subjects evarrr!

btw: @reaper the flower is out of focus. I'm surprised it is actually as there seems to be decent light and contrast for the camera to autofocus.

I'm yet to actually make use of my DSLR, mostly using it to take photos of my kid, nothing more. That, and being a lazy bum to actually venture out to take good photos :P

Also, what kind of processing you guys do in light room ? I;ve a trial version of lightroom, but I just can't figure out what kind of processing to do with my photos !

Depends on whats wrong with the camera output really. Everytime every image, something different can/or will go wrong.

Basic edits include cropping, straightening. Then lightroom allows you to smoothen your skin. U know, get the magazine look. Then u use retouch tools to remove pimples/marks any unwanted spots/elements from the photos (it basically masks the spot by cloning surrounding area over it).

Then u can correct exposure, add overall saturation, specific colours, hues/tints, do some noise correction, add/remove sharpness/softness. Then u can use curves to correct recover images where harsh sunlight makes it too bright etc.

Lot of things. It depends on what image is produced in the camera. I am no expert, and I dont have a set routine as most pros do of how to go from raw image to final output. I just go with whatever I see can be fixed/improved.
