aagey to batao, which one? :chair:

Lol. Main kya bataon ? Using a D5100 and don't feel any need for upgrading. IMO the first rule is to master all the photography techniques rather than go for an expensive camera. That is something I'm still doing, still learning every time I click something.

What are the limitations of D3100 in your opinion ? Having used both (3100 and 5100), the only real world difference I could make out is the no. of AF points. Of course the 5100 has a better sensor (5200 is much more impressive), but IRL I don't use very high quality blow ups for the difference to matter. Might be a selling point for a pro, not for me.

If you don't have any valid points in favor of a new cam, why not invest in better lenses/filters/tripod etc ?

You have a valid point there. CMOS Sensor is one point that I was concerned about. Whenever I try to take a photo(with kit lens) in evening, I always end getting a grainy picture(even if I jack up ISO). May be the kit lens is not that effective. I assume that in higher version of cameras the grains are less even with a kit lens, right? As I already wrote above, I will be buying 2 lenses only. So, if my purpose is solved with these lenses with D3100 itself, I can rethink of not selling it.

High ISO invariably means grainier pics. Even I get grainy pics with ISOs above 1600, though as expected, high end models do produce clearer pics (comparatively) at similar ISOs. From what I remember regarding ISO, raking it up sort of means boosting the sensitivity of the sensor, hence capturing more details causing a grainy look.

I honestly doubt how much would a D5200 help you in this department. You need to look at actual high end models if you want to take better pics at higher ISOs.

Again, the old tricks apply - use a tripod + try for a better lighting if you can.

Guys post some advises on improving the shots, and how to get a proper dof with bokeh?

Also some more pointers/links on low shutter speed photography especially(night lights) using Slow sync Flash.

@Ram Dante

Dude, a good prime lens can do wonders for the kind of photography you want, amazing low light photography with crazy DOF, the no Zoom will not even be a problem once you use a good prime....

They are not even that expensive cheaper ones are 6k-10k and are amazing for the price.

I really need to learn more about the abilities of lenses.

Ok prime lens goes in my buy-list, what would you suggest as an alternative to that (which has zooming capabilities as well)?
