spindoctor
so i'm quite disappointed with denerim. when i first saw the city map with all those locations to travel to, i was expecting that it would be as long as orzammar/dust city/deep roads. turns out all those locations are the size of a big room :|. and denerim itself is just a hub for sidequests... nothing related to the story (at least yet, although i suppose the arl will provide some story based gameplay at some point. Aftrunner
Denerim has a whorehouse. It wins if only for that.
Bulovski
Dammit! This is one game where you can't read spoilers even after finishing it peace
HundredProofSam
Is it true that in the PC version each time you enter combat, the game pauses and you have to manually select combat commands for each party member. Isn't there an option to set automatic tactics via tactics slots like in the console versions without having to pause each time? peace
Tyler
The automatic pause is a setting in the Options menu. It's for those who want to control the party members individually. It's quite possible to play it like the console version as well.
Bulovski
I miss the auto-pause in the console versions. I don't miss the iso view or the extra spell slots as much as this one feature. DnD is turn based and I want to know when my fking turn ends
HundredProofSam
Hmm. I'm in two minds. I just started my second playthrough on PS3 and I'm wondering if I should get the PC version instead. The technical issues really bugged me on the PS3 version but I liked the way it played. Also, it's amazing how things change depending on your origins story. I'm playing as a Dalish elf in my second playthrough and I'm guessing this is the origin story where you encounter the darkspawn the earliest; even before Duncan is introduced . It's also amazing that while as a human, NPCs will greet you with respect, almost all the human NPCs I've encountered so far while playing as an elf will talk down to you thinking you're a servant simply because you're an elf. And even NPCs you've interacted with quite a bit will often address you as an elf or ask for an elf's perspective on certain matters. Very cool. peace
Aftrunner
Dont even think twice. PC version is MILES ahead of the console versions. The UI alone makes the game a much better experience.
spindoctor
60 hours into the game now, just completed all of denerim that was unlocked. not amused by the fact that the side quests had me running around the map of the entire world twice. anyway, i've done all the quests i could find so heading now to redcliffe to continue with the main quest line i.e. the landsmeet . anyone want to tell me how much longer the game is? a rough estimate in hours or something would be handy. HundredProofSam
The Landsmeet itself is pretty short and then there's the final battle. No idea how long it takes on higher difficulties coz I played it on easy, but it must have taken me about 2-3 hours. peace

relentless_rock
finished the game just now. 68 hours to complete. good fun. Would 2.2 Ghz Core 2 Duo with 2 gb ram and Nvidia GeForce 8600 M GT, work for DAO ? I have recently only been buying PS3 games, so is the difference on pc and ps3 playthroughs glaring, or could it be passed as acceptable? (if I do decide to go with the so stated slightly inferior version on console) I am eager to buy this and Valkyria Chronicles very soon, so any kind advise would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Bulovski
This is better on the PC but the core stuff remains the same. The differences are graphics (it looks), PS3 has horrible framerates, control scheme is different (it shouldn't matter since the console controls pretty decently), no auto-pause in console, journal is better in pc. Is my lappy (configuration given above) capable of handling this game? It lagged pretty badly with my last purchases (World in Conflict n Empire Total War) despite overhauling the min. requirements mentioned on gameboxes. Mate I'd also want to check for Batman AA if that too can run on same lappy? Thank you.
Bulovski
No idea - go to systemrequirementlabs and run a check. They have configs for most games available.
