The Blood Dragon armor is nice but I found a better one called the Juggernaut armor. You'll find it in

the Brecilian Forest if you disturb each of the "ancient tombs" in that area and kill the Revenants.

I'm gonna put it on Alistair.

And I also forged a sweet drake scale armor from Wade in Denerim for Leilana. She looks happy

@spindoctor, it's best armor I've come across for a Rogue so far.

Have you tried teh Dragon skin armor?

To get it, kill the dragon you see in Urn for Sacred ashes and give it to Wade in Denerim

Its also a very nice armor but required 42 strength to wear.

That is if you choose the last option. Wade gives you option of 3 items that he can make with the Dragon scale

That

dragon

kicked the crap out of me and my party and I was too sleepy to try. Will give it a shot tonight!

Erm. Use the most important item that every intergalactic hitchiker uses......

It works. alteast it did for me when i wanted to finish deadspace after an rrod.

Yup! Towley to the rescue! Gonna try it tomorrow. Hope it works, at least until the replacement arrives. My warranty expires in Feb 2010, so I still have time left.

Quick and dirty first impressions on the PC version.

The game is really easy on the resources. I am running it at 1400X900 with everything set to the highest option available and its silky smooth. It look pretty good too. The interface is as standard as any WRPG. Mouse wheel to zoom in and out (or to switch between OTS and Isometric view), a hotbar for your potions/spells/abilities, hotkeys for your interface (journal, inventory etc) screens, right click to attack/talk etc and pause and play combat. All in all it feels exactly like what its meant to be, a classical PC RPG.

The isometric camera can be fiddly in tight corners but it never gets annoying enough to be noticeable. The game does a pretty commendable job of managing your AI party members. I havent gone into the nitty gritty of micromanagement yet (mostly because I havent had any need to) so cant say much about that. The item description screen when you mouse over the items is a nice touch. All in all its pretty n00b friendly.

Aside from that whatever has been said about the console version (story, music, dialogues etc) holds true for the PC version as well.

BTW there is a high(er) res textures mod available now. Click here.

Edit: BTW should I use the shale unlock code right now or can it be done anytime?

Edit 2: No subtitles option BTW. Pretty silly in this day and age to miss out on that.

Nice impressions! Can't wait to play the PC version myself... hopefully tomorrow :)

There are subtitles on the 360 version. They were disabled by default. Had to enable them manually from the Options screen.

Awesome impression there afty. I will be picking up the PC version tomorrow myself. My dealer called, he has it. Cant wait to lay my hands on this one.

no SUBTITLES? Seriously...aww man, that sux! That will be a major problem for me, I am more of a viewer than a listener! :)

Relax! I'm sure the subtitles option will be there, just hidden somewhere in the settings. There's no way Bioware could leave out a feature like that in a dialog heavy RPG as this. Besides, they're there in the 360 version, doesn't make sense for them not to include them in the PC version.

Whoops my bad. Subtitles are there in the main options menu. Right in front of my face actually. Dunno how I missed it, stupid me. Also missed the quicksave option, or at least forgot about it. Been playing so many games recently with checkpoint/autosave system I have started to forget quicksave existed. :)

What are load times like on the console versions? They are a bit longer than I would expect on PC games in general. Also quickload here is such a misnomer.

Load times are a bitch on the console version. Takes about 15-20 seconds to load an area (sometimes more).

And quicksave! It's gonna make life so much easier. Even I tend to forget it these days. But recently Risen reminded me that it exists and how important it is.

I would say the load times of this game are the worst I have seen on the PS3 (which is supposed to be faster than 360). It takes 15-20 seconds.

Another thing I hate about this game is that you cannot skip through conversations or pause the game in between cutscenes.
