gonekrazy3000
Load times are a bitch on the console version. Takes about 15-20 seconds to load an area (sometimes more). And quicksave! It's gonna make life so much easier. Even I tend to forget it these days. But recently Risen reminded me that it exists and how important it is. 15-20 seconds ???? It barely takes 10-15 secs for me. Then again i installed the game to the Hdd so that might explain the quicker loadtimes..... The pc version does indeed take around 15-20 seconds so atleast in my experience the pc version takes longer. but then its kinda expected due to the higher res textures etc... john117
I would say the load times of this game are the worst I have seen on the PS3 (which is supposed to be faster than 360). It takes 15-20 seconds. Another thing I hate about this game is that you cannot skip through conversations or pause the game in between cutscenes. You can skip the dialog being spoken by hitting ESC key on Keyboard .. not sure what are the controls for consoles but the option is there. You can skip dialog/cutscenes on the 360 by pressing the X button. I would assume it's the square button on the PS3.
Bulovski
Load times are not bad at all on the 360 - hardly 10 seconds. But that's after I've installed the game on the HDD.
Madmage
The Blood Dragon armor is nice but I found a better one called the Juggernaut armor. You'll find it in the Brecilian Forest if you disturb each of the "ancient tombs" in that area and kill the Revenants. I'm gonna put it on Alistair. And I also forged a sweet drake scale armor from Wade in Denerim for Leilana. She looks happy @spindoctor, it's best armor I've come across for a Rogue so far. Three more days to start playing Dragon Age.. BTW i found the entire juggernaut set.. Its totally awesome for elemental defense..

They're almost the same as Oblivion. The problem isn't really the load times themselves but how frequently they happen, especially when you're in town and entering buildings. Dontdrop
The game is great on pc. I'm not finding the load times too bad either, in line with witcher and other RPGs I've played. Surprisingly I'm liking the combat even though I generally don't like games with this sort of combat. Playing the human origins story I'm not seeing how it's really a dark fantasy tale, like say witcher, but I'm just starting out.

Dontdrop
Wait for it to build up. Awesome, that's reassuring. Wish I had more free time to play the game. And how different is each different origin stories. Is it only the basic premise different and does it converge soon after the intro?
Aftrunner
It actually reminds me a LOT of the Ice and fire series. The blight, the broken kingdom, the constant betrayals, the sex/gore and the naming conventions (Ser, Arl etc). Its very, very good.

From what I understand all of them merge after the battle at Ostegar

Tyler
Played the PC version up to Ostagar and I can honestly say that the PC version pwns the console version in nearly every aspect. The only thing that the console version has over it is Achievements/Trophies.... lol Few key areas where the PC version shines... - Performance: Extremely smooth even with everything maxed out (@ 1680x1050). Load times are definitely a lot better. Games saves very quickly compared to the console version. - Isometric view and proper Pause: Easily the best part of the PC version. You can queue up commands (something which you cannot do in the console version) and the isometric view gives you a great overview of the battle area. There is no way you can strategize like this in the console version with the severly limited view. Hot keys are FAR better than the command wheel. You can play either in the isometric view which is very similar to BG2 or NWN or use the third-person camera. Both work great. I personally use a mix of both depending on the situation. - Overall interface: You can mouse over everything and get help. - Menus/Inventory/Journal/Map/Codex: I can't even begin to describe how much better this is in the PC version. The colours make it far more readable (no black backgrounds YAY!). You can jump to any screen with a single click from the game. The codex is arranged much better (in a grid) unlike the long collapsible wall of text in the console version. One area however isn't really that different - the visuals. Sure the PC version looks a bit sharper and the textures are better but it's still largely the same on the console. The game was clearly designed with an isometric view in mind (since it looks amazing when played that way). Still, like I said before, the visuals are decent enough and you shouldn't really be playing this for it's graphics anyway. If you have access to a decent PC, there is really no reason to be playing this on a console. I'm taking my words back, the console version is playable enough but seriously lacks the depth and interactivity provided by the PC version. I feel like playing a different game altogether. Aftrunner
Hmm load times are getting to be a nuisance for me. Even when the game transitions into a small area (house/room etc) it still takes way to long to load. Ty, how much RAM you got?
Aftrunner
A long load wouldnt normally bother me much but at least it should happen when its loading a large area. Its just silly to have a long load when all its loading is a tiny room. Ah well, its something I can put up with. Plus like you say they can always fix it with a patch.
