Gautam
Hi all, I've got the following setup. The xbox 360 is connected to the wireless router which is connected to the modem. My laptop(Vista HP) connects to the router to access the wireless network. Now when i power on the 360 and laptop at the same time, the 360 gets detected as an external device on the laptop. I can share movies/songs and grant read permission to the 360. The good part is that my laptop gets detected on the 360 and i can view and play the shared files (wirelessly! woohoo). This is awesome after the divx update because now I can watch all the movies/TV shows from the laptop on the TV The weird part is that I am not able to connect to my laptop using the Windows media connect option! The initial setup works fine. The media center on my laptop detects the xbox as an extender device and asks for the 8 digit code - which the 360 provides and the setup completes successfully on the laptop. But after this when i select the windows media connect option from the 360, it tries connecting to the laptop but it times-out after sometime stating some crap about network congestion. Any ideas why this is happening? I've repeated the whole setup process and tried the same with my roomie's laptop, but it's the same problem! I know there is no issue with the n/w because i can directly watch all shared videos which stream wirelessly from my laptop. On another note, is it even worth bothering with the whole Media center thing, if i can already play shared videos and music from my system on the 360? What other features does Media center provide? Tyler
^^ Don't bother with Media Center. Just use media sharing.
Ne0
on the post by gautam, will the media sharing work in the same way, if the PC and X360 are connected to a router, thru eth cables (I mean not wireless) ?

Gautam
if it works without wires, it should definitely work with them as well Dude, u have to set up the media sharing! your TV becomes the one stop access to all your videos/music/gaming
Ne0
^^ yeah, today i set it up. Thanks for bringing it up But media connect is not working for some reason. Sharing with WMP 11 as of now ! BTW, I have a doubt. I have a PAL Indian X360, now if I get a NTSC-U region movie dvd and play it in my comp, can i stream it to my X360 and play it on my TV ? Or does X360 does region checking for streaming video as well ?
Tyler
^^ I'm guessing it should work since technically the DVD will be played from your computer's drive and not the 360. I've never tried it myself, my Philips player plays all regions.
