The game is quite easy to pick up and play. The attributes and character leveling system is very straightforward for someone who has some experience with RPGs.

Use V.A.T.S. in combat as much as possible to hit weak spots. It's not always mandatory but makes some encounters easier, especially when there's multiple targets.

You can ignore the randomly generated "settlement needs help" quests if you wish because they're damn annoying and pop up far too often.

Base building - the biggest addition to the series this game has made - is also optional and if you don't enjoy it just ignore it. You'll get stuff that you need either way. I found it fun though. There's a couple of points in the story where you will have to craft something to progress so keep that in mind.

Enjoy it as a sandbox and don't expect much from the story because to me it's quite honestly one of the worst stories I've ever experienced in an RPG with a lame a*s twist that you can see coming from a mile away. There's multiple paths you can take and alliances you can go with but none of them are satisfying.

Power armor rules! Try to get one as soon as you can. Maintaining armors and being able to create an armor collection like some sort of a post apocalyptic Tony Stark was a highlight of the game for me.

Overall it is a pretty straightforward game that explains it well so just jump into it. The Skyrim experience will surely help.

PS: Once you get bored, stop playing and pick up New Vegas instead. It's by far the best modern Fallout game.

Cheers Ty!

The whole atmosphere of the game seemed to be the most intriguing factor for me and the Far Harbour DLC just seems to good to pass on. I love that set-up.

Could of quick questions:

1.) Can you complete the side quests post main game's completion or do we get locked out of the some of them?

2.) Is leveling up easy? Do the enemies scale?

3.) Can I make the play-through to be exclusively in night time only?

4.) Can the settlements be fully ignored without any major ramifications?

5.) What do you feel is the biggest strong point of this game?

1. Yes, as far as I know you can continue doing quests post-game. It works just like other Bethesda's RPG. There are some factions you might end up becoming enemies with and consequently block their future quests but you'll know when that's about to happen.

2. Yes it's quite easy, most actions give XP. There is some level scaling but not as bad as Elder Scrolls, for the most part combat is balanced and there's a chance you will run into high level enemies if you venture too far.

3. Yes, just sleep through the day!

4. I think so, I don't think they have any major ramifications apart from one faction which is based around liberating and maintaining settlements. It's also the most boring faction. I'd still suggest you at least free them and ignore the requests later.

5. Combat and exploration. By far the most enjoyable combat in a Bethesda RPG ever. For me the highlight of the game was exploring closed off locations (dungeons in RPG terms) which are full of enemies and loot and a treasure chest at the end. Also enjoyed the crafting aspects. In fact I'd say everything other than the story and writing is rather good.

Thank you again!

Just spent did a 3 1/2 hour sessions and I'm digging the atmosphere. The visuals are really great. Now I've collected way too much stuff to keep on me. Where do I stash them? Is this where building a settlement helps?

Some quests will fail automatically after main story is over in both main game and Far Harbour.

So complete side content first

Are these faction based quests that Tyler was talking about? How does the side activities allocation work in this game?

In Witcher, for instance, you have notice boards and random NPC encounters which trigger this. Is it the same out here?

I don't even know where to begin with the mods. If there is a mod to get rid of the inventory weight requirement, let me know. :P

You can use In-game console commands to remove weight limit

Command list

http://m.ign.com/wikis/fallout-4/Console_Command_Cheats_Codes

List of mods

http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/categories/?

10,000 mods available including combat rebalance mods, graphics mods, bug fixing mods, sound effects mods, armor and weapon mods, NSFW mods and very detailed story quests mods. :P

Read mod description carefully before installing mods.

AND ALWAYS CREATE BACK UP OF YOU SAVE FILE.

Good luck. I will not even touch janky Bethesda rpg without mods. I played Fallout 4 on PC with 100 mods installed and on XboxOne with 60 mods :D

6 hours in now and I'm loving it. I'm completely immersed in the exploration. Built my first settlement in the sanctuary and got a fair idea of how stuff works. Had to leave for work just when things were getting interesting. :(

I don't even know which quests form a part of the main storyline, but I'm just doing quests randomly. The best thing I love about this game is the ability to quicksave at any point, I mean even during mid missions or conversations. That is freakin' brilliant. Also, major props to Bethesda for allowing custom controller key rebinding. For the love of God, this is exactly what I need in every game.

I'm getting my arse kicked big time in some area though. It's mainly because I have shite weapons. The whole quest to locate detective Valentine was such a grueling task because of this, but definitely more enjoyable too. Man I hope I get more long quests like this.

Did you peeps get into settlement building? If yes, what's the biggest advantage?

Settlement will get you resources for crafting and cooking. It's completely optional and not required to enjoy the game as there are 100 ways to get resources.

Settlement quests are Infinite. Don't waste too much time on it lol

you need to apply mod to your weapon based on the ability you are unlocking. for example, if you invest point in rifle master(not sure about the exact name but it boosts your damage by 1.5 times if you use rifle), then you can convert some weapons to rifles to make use of that ability.

Similarly there is an ability to damage boost with automatic rifle. There is also pistol ability if you want to go james bond style

I think the biggest draw there is the building aspect itself. If you enjoy building elaborate bases in survival games (that's where this feature comes from), you'll get a kick out of it as there's a lot of cool stuff you can build and it comes together really well.

Apart from that, as Zodak mentioned you get some resources and have a safe place where everything can be easily done (crafting, cooking, farming, repairs etc.).

I'm now on the Brotherhood of Steel questline and have barely touched the main quests (on ACT II). Been doing side quests all along. Reached level 34. Literally spent 50 hours till now and pretty much obsessed with this game now. But in true Bethesda fashion ran into quite a few glitches along the way. It was a perfect decision to pick up the PC version as the console commands prove to be a winner here to carry you past these glitches.

Now a few main story & faction related queries:

Spoiler

1.) Can we do every side quests associated with every factions?

2.) What about the main faction quests? I believe a certain amount of progress would end up making one faction an enemy of the other. So how would you experience the main quests of every faction in one playthrough?

3.) What faction do you guys feel was worth siding with in the end? I feel Minutemen are genuine in their cause. Brotherhood seems to have a great supply of arsenal. Railroad has been meh so far.

1. Quests never end. All 4 factions have unlimited side quests. Radiant quests.

2. You can but you need to take save back up. I haven't found a way to do all in single save without taking backup. This should help you.

3. All or none. It depends on how you look. I enjoyed all but if I have to choose, then Railroad > Institute > Minutemen >  Brotherhood Of Steel.

Minutemen is morally best and has a nice ending but damn those settlement quests. y8p4V5c.png
