DS3 is using same engine as BB? Visuals are not as good as BB :/

From a User (comment)

I don't know why you think it even matters. What specifically are they going to gain by switching to another engine? Again, be specific.

You want it to simply look better? That could be achieved without switching engines. A lot of "looking good" has to do with using your tools well and having good artists that understand how to design models, textures, and lighting that will look good within your engine. The technical side is only part of the equation. There are better looking games that use the same game engine as the Souls games.

PhyreEngine(DeS/DaSengine) received several updates since Demon's Souls. For example, motion blur became supported between Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Further, they haven't outlined everything they use to build their game. PhyreEngine is the base. Havok is their physics. Both have received numerous updates throughout the years. They've used Yebis (Post-Processing Effects) in Bloodborne. We know they've made some in-house libraries/engines. You can get very granular with what is essentially extensions to whatever base you've selected.

The game looks like Bloodborne because it's running on From's updated engine that had its groundwork laid for BB. The reality of game development is that developers reuse assets between games. To me it looks graphically like BB but stylistically closer to Souls.

I wouldn't worry about content and build diversity. You throw lightning spears with a talisman, soul arrows with a catalyst, have access to bows, greatswords, curved swords, straight swords, maces, axes, spears, etc etc. From and Miyazaki know what separates BB and Souls. As for the increased speed of movement and combat, that comes down to personal taste. Personally I enjoyed what I played. Timing is still important, shields can still save your a*s, and just like in Dark Souls 1 and 2, a skilled player can go berserk two handing everything, though the new Knights are going to give you a smacking. We also haven't seen how much equip burden will affect the flow of combat.

Oh I wish more people would understand (or accept) what separates the 2 series... Playing BB and get disappointed (pretty much only) because of its differences with the Souls games, when that was the objective... I mean... Anyways, DS3 feels fantastic and seems to integrate the better bits of each game (DmS too <3 #atmosphere), and the engine of BB.

Dark Souls 3 is Smaller Than Dark Souls 2 but More Complex: Miyazaki

According to Miyazaki, there are 200 weapons in Dark Souls 3. From Software made sure that each of them feels unique to the player.

In Dark Souls 3, players will form a closer relationship with the weapons they use, similar to Bloodborne. Stats are important but they won’t be everything.

Players will notice that Dark Souls 3 is much more similar to Bloodborne instead than previous Dark Souls games. How similar these two are will be revealed once we ourselves get our hands on the game.

Fine with me. 0gWIvJk.gif

200 weapons is very old news. 'Das3 is lil smaller' can be rephrased as 'das2 n 3 are nearly identical area-wise', is segmentnext's post reliable? Anyways, who cares,From has experience, Miyazaki wont be a let down, plus Dlc will take care of 'boundary issues'.

Old click bait or just random front page news.

Man. Technically its still kinda shoddy. Subpar textures and all that. But no one can do art direction like From Soft can. That alone makes the game absolutely gorgeous.

That's the sad part of it...on one hand they are so good with art but the subpar textures and all bring the whole thing down.

you can co-op only if you have one of the previous souls games in your library

Serious question,

Is Co-op/invading like DS2? That is, using soapstones for online operations?

What about using password for Coop?
