We did it :P

Guys, when do we get our first decent Staff in this game? I hate using that ugly default staff.

There is a Heretic's Staff at in Road of Sacrifices - Crucifixion Woods bonfire, looted from a corpse in the castle ruins where you meet Orbeck.

Started the game few days ago. Currently in Undead Settlement. After hearing so many complaints about Magic I decided to go for Magic build. The new Weapon Arts are really cool but the new FP mechanic? Not really. Why the F**k did they mess it up? It was fine in previous games. Now I have to sacrifice Estus flasks if want more casts

MP system worked well in Demon's souls. Thing is they've nerfed the spell power and the FP costs

Regenerating MP didnt take away from your healing items in DeS. Its a pretty massive stumbling block in difficulty. Once you are in the final third of the game have have 10+ Estus charges then its not a big deal. But for like the first 2/3 of the game you are at a serious disadvantage to anyone who is playing sword and shield.

Another drawback to that is, it kills spell variety. Most people just attune their 1 or 2 best spells and never use anything else. Dark Souls 1 had it perfect. Even 2 did a pretty solid job of it. You had limited uses of spells so you had to use every spell you could find. Use the weak ones on trash mobs and save the mid and top tier spells for hard enemies. It added a layer of tactics to magic playthroughs.

Here, since your spells just recharge with a flask, you can mostly just spam your 2 best spells. The FP cost difference between a hard hitting spell and a mid tier spell is a minor hinderance.

Yeah, the first half is pretty much a nightmare. But once you get simple gems, you don't need Estus for healing outside Boss fights and PvP for a Faith build. And for an Int build, the FP regen would be even faster, that you won't need Ashen Estus if you manage your FP properly.

TBH, I haven't been using any Ashen Estus flasks for my Faith build since reaching Anor Londo, except when summoned.

I guess it's best to respec to Magic once you reach Anor Londo
