The PC version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is not a port with all the content being “authored at a much higher rate”

Gears of War developer, The Coalition emphasized that the PC version is not a port. It’s enhanced greatly, and all the content is “authored at a much higher rate.” There are 4K textures all the way through the environment and for the PC they could just “turn off those clamps and unlock it fully, and the world just becomes super crisp

it's not a port of console...Assets are recreated in 4k for PC version.

Requirements are reasonable if you want to run the game @ High 1080p60fps with 4k textures

Is this all true?

Yes.

Best place to play Xbox games is on Xbox only. I rather buy disc version for Xbox and then sell it once iam done playing, than buying digital version from Windows store. lol

ROTR Windows store version is a mess according GAF users.

And... Why would anyone want to DSR just textures or is that one more feature of The Windows App Store that I missed somehow?

Ya, even my mind went like :ko: ..Why would you want to have a game running on 1080p with 4k textures..

What's so confusing about it?? I played Skyrim at 900p with 4k textures pack installed

It destroyed frame-rate...but game looked great.. :P

Gamespot: 7/10.

Playing on an NvidiaGTX 980 Ti made Gears of War look gorgeous, with textured debris and iridescent lighting piercing the dust of Marcus Fenix's crumbling world. But the framerate is liable to dip extremely low, especially when enemies are more numerous. Playing on a GTX 970, on the other hand, runs much more smoothly, for whatever reason--but pop-in textures disrupt Gears of War's visual flow, while screen tearing disrupts your aiming during crucial firefights.

Microsoft informed us it's aware of some performance issues and is working on improved driver support--we'll reevaluate the game when the updates are instituted. When Gears of War: Ultimate Edition runs smoothly, it's worth playing--it set a precedent, 10 years ago, for third-person action games in its wake. But in the remaster's current technical state on PC, it's harder to recommend the trip home.

Original version runs like crap.
Re-master version runs like crap as well.

^4k video option available

The original ran fine on my then 7900GT card with a basic core 2 duo processor.

It's using completely new assets now..So, you can't compare performance of original with this one.

Aren't these performance issues mostly attributed to AMD cards?

Yes, Game runs like sh*t on AMD cards..
