On hard. I'm still using the starting gear. Every vendor has been selling same starting stuff, so didn't pick anything yet.

Currently level 18.

I also completed the game on hard mode, it's rather simple to target if you use the concentration ability and hardpoint arrows. The only challenging enemy I faced was thunderjaw rest were easy for me even the deathbringer.

Vendors don't sell much until you reach the meridian city. Some weapons are won by completing the side missions. Story is very short, the things which you'll spend your time the most are collectibles and challenges.

I'm on my way to Meridian city. Where do I find hardpoint arrows? I have the basic and fire arrows.

Oh? How much left after Meridian City? Really don't want to finish it soon as I have a lot to explore. Collectibles have been fine so far except Vantage ones.

You have completed around 30% of story I would say. Story missions can be long if you explore and listen to all the tapes and the videos, which is the right way to play else you won't understand much of the story.

Sharpshot bows let you craft and use hardpoint arrows. The purple one which is called 'Shadow Sharpshot Bow' is the best version and you can buy that after you've reached daytower and beyond.

You must be doing the city of the sun quest then. Yo have around 12 main missions remaining.

Horizon Zero Dawn: the making of PS4 Pro's best 4K game

Guerrilla Games' Horizon Zero Dawn not only raised the bar in terms of technical accomplishment on current generation console hardware, it handed in the best 4K HDR presentation we've seen from any PlayStation 4 Pro title. The native 1080p output on base hardware scales up to 2160p on Pro, using a custom implementation of checkerboard rendering, but Horizon's presentation is so clean, so solid, so convincing, it passes for the 'real thing' - so how was this achieved?

A while back, Digital Foundry spent the day with Guerrilla Games in Amsterdam, discussing the technological make-up of the game, our visit kicking off with an in-depth talk with principal tech engineer Gilliam de Carpentier on how the studio got to grips with the PlayStation 4 Pro hardware.

Good article.

Amazing how unbalanced the game becomes once you get certain items.

Tearblast Arrow - simply strips out the challenge. Before engaging in a combat, shoot these and voila! Then just choose the arrow according to the machine you are fighting. What's the point of having so many types when nothing is balanced?

I hardly get to make use of any other arrows as they seem just pointless and a waste of time. Traps are kind of useful when fighting a bunch; else meh.

Crafting - terrible. The fact that you can just sell trash to the merchant for absurd prices and buy whatever and how much ever you want kills the crafting point. I stopped picking up shite now and sitting with around 3000+ shards and of no use. If I need anything, I just fast travel and refill everything. Oh, and I didn't even craft the unlimited fast travel because I still got like 15+ unused...

The late game is just lacking and sad to see because the first 10-20 hours were really nice and challenging. Ugh. ARqFUph.png

Tearblast arrows aren't that powerful against bigger enemies like thunderjaw as they have many parts, unless you are talking about the skill that allows you to equip 2/3 in one go.

Actually, it works much better against bigger enemies as you don't even have to aim. Just point and shoot anywhere since the blast radius is so big that is takes everything down one by one.

Joe, what mission are you on?
The game does get easy but the high level corrupted zones, hunting grounds and later missions still provide decent challenge.
You becoming a god midway is a problem with most western games tbh and I personally like it.

Just reached Meridian. Almost done with the exploration. Not really a fan of god mode. Takes out all the fun midway.

What I enjoy the most:

  • Corrupted zones - not all as a couple of them can be easily cleared from an upper ground.
  • Enemies - stalker and stormbird.
  • Cauldron - sadly very few. These are pleasantly surprising.
  • Bandit camps - sadly very few.

Haven't tried hunting grounds much. Saving it for later.

Good game with shite RPG elements which were not even required. Awful skills, awful crafting & economy, unbalanced, bland characters, etc. Jack of all trades and master of none. Well, maybe graphics.

Don't forget how dumb human AI is..

The stalker is the only enemy I found interesting rest were just okay! I had high hopes for the 'deathbringer' but it was relatively easy and boring.

I barely used tearblaster as it made the game way to easy. Just used the hardpoint arrows and concentration ability to hit the soft spot.

Graphically the games looks great at first but it slowly becomes stale. However, more of those Corrupted zones and Cauldrons would have maintained the interest.

Tip: Don't get the Shield-Weaver armor, it'll make you invincible. Get it later if you're going for platinum.

Or just Play on very hard if you want challenge. Game is too easy even on hard.

I completed on Ultra hard and my experience was completely different than my first playthrouh. It was more enjoyable and rewarding.

My bag is completely empty now. All my resources nd ammo was used by the time I was done with final Boss.  I had to spend few hours just to farm woods for arrows lol
