Great interview with Yoko Taro, must read for anyone who likes his games (or is interested to know what they're like).

(No spoilers for Automata but a very minor one for the original Nier)

What if it gets less than 70 metacritic? :P

:P

As long as combat is like Nier Automata , I will play it. If it's turn based then I will not touch it :P

Howz the combat in Original Nier?

Original Nier is BC on XboxOne i think?

The combat is more or less similar, it's real time hack and slash with bullet hell elements and changing perspectives during set pieces, obviously it lacks the finesse of a Platinum game.

Be warned though, the same was super dated even when it came out so I'm sure it has aged horribly. It's also not as streamlined as Automata. Still a one-of-a-kind experience.

Also, just say that YOU don't enjoy turn based combat. It doesn't mean it's "garbage". Some of the best games ever made have turn based combat. I don't play FIFA or multiplayer shooters but that doesn't mean they're garbage because millions of people love and enjoy them.

Is the game even digitally available on any of the older platforms?

I know for a fact that Playstation store only has the DLC and main game was disc release only. Speaking of which, Nier is a rare find and it's absurdly priced online. So unless you can score some good deal, better hunt for something else.

It can help you avoid a lot of arguments and conflicts.

How else can he justify spamming replies and post rehashed material which contradicts his own posts elsewhere on the board.

Back to the game...

Played more today and I'm so loving it! The side quests are so well done. In fact spent most of my time doing side quests today. They range from endearing to creepy and everything in between. Some of the machines are so darn lovable! Reminds me of Portal at times. I also love the banter between B2 and 9S, they have such different personalities.

Oh and I ran into a familiar face (quite literally!) so that was a nice surprise.

On the combat front, bought all the chip capacity upgrades from the camp vendor and filled with +3 chips. The Overclock chip basically turns the game into Bayonetta. I love that!

Also got killed for the first time. Ran into a level 50 enemy as a part of a side mission.

Took a peek at a list and it looks like I did many of them already. A couple of them failed automatically because I think I passed the point of no return unknowingly. No worries, will do them on the next run.

And yeah, by the looks of it I'm near the end of the first playthrough. Some the set pieces are jawdropping, especially with the music in the background. Also nice to see a fan favorite track make a return!

Some are locked to routes and some are character specific.

Yeah I can see that. Pretty sure I found all the side quests I could do in Route A and with 2B. It's not like they're terribly hard to find - they're marked on the map. I wish the game gave you a hint before the point of no return though. Then again, that's Yoko Taro for you.

I must say this again though, the game plays like butter, so smooth!

Already? How long did it take?

I'm still waiting for the full-screen patch...
