Snake
Sony and Nintendo's E3 performance shows they've ‘been on an extended vacation’ says Xbox boss Don Mattrick has told MCV he is confident that Microsoft ‘won’ E3 this year – and has even accused Sony and Nintendo of slacking off over the past year. In assessing his rivals’ E3 conferences, he said: “I think we got more than 12 months’ work done, and others went on an extended vacation. Hopefully they got some good vacation photos, because they sure weren't showing up at work.” “Of course I'm going to be biased, but so far what I've heard is that Sony and Nintendo have disappointed. And Microsoft has been leading, innovating and driving a very comprehensive global programme.” “We're building momentum and we're on a scale that no other consumer electronics company or entertainment company has been able to achieve in nine years. It's been a very good show and I'm very pleased with what we've been able to accomplish. I think there was a lot of good work, a lot of innovation and a lot of news from us.” Source: MCV

CarbonCore
He's right, when you say 'innovation in software and electronics', the first company that comes to our minds is Microsoft, not Apple or Google or IBM or Sony.

lastAvenger
lol,big mouth MS, can we have Alan Wake then? Microsoft is just the publisher. Remedy Games are the developers I actually agree that Microsoft has innovated the most in terms of software for their console. I mean they had everything when they launched their console plus they kept on adding new things and now Xbox 360 is getting a new dashboard too which is nice and neat. On the other hand XMB interface is innovative too but its getting old and Sony needs to stop using it. They should work on the lines of a new interface. I am not saying its bad but its just getting boring. I mean PSP , PS3 and now Sony Ericsson phones are getting it too ?

killeramit
MS is a smart a*s company that steals other companies innovations and then do it better and make more money then anyone else. Sony stole the whole idea of In Game XMB + trophies from M$ and their Home is similar to Second Life. Microsoft stole their new Mii like characters from Nintendo. HundredProofSam
i think both the XMB and the 360 dashboard as they are do what theyre meant to do pretty efficiently....the XMB is now showing up in other sony products because its an efficient means of navigation...thats not a bad thing.....how much time do yall actually spend in these interfaces that yall are so horny for Home or a new dashboard? peace

CarbonCore
XMB is in use since well before PSP/PS3, they also used it in PSX (PS2 DVR version). And its not just phones, Sony also uses it in some of their Wega TVs and some camcorders. Its called 'common user interface'. Apple also uses same trick for iPhones and ipod touch. It gives you the feel of integration between different devices.
