Work - Gaming - Etc.

Hey Guys,

Writing after a very long time - not sure if many missed me !!

But I'm seeking some answers recently - Generally because I own a (sort of half decent) PC and not utilizing it much, my gaming sessions have take a massive hit since I've started working like last 3 years or so - my previous 5-6hrs straight long gaming sessions have been reduced to not even booting the PC for weeks!!

I know most of the people here are working too (given gaming is an expensive hobby) in the day - so how do you guys keep the mojo for gaming going - it's certainly not something that you grow out of (or may be its just me getting older)

My free time has been reduced to coming after work reading a book maybe, cook dinner and watch a random Sitcom or Jimmy fallon kindda show and shut off to sleep.

Any suggestion / Productivity hacks appreciated!

-Kunal

Reminds me of your WTB Mag thread. :giggle:

BTW, on a serious note, I am going through this problem too. Even I go on a week or two without gaming at all.

I'm planning to add an hour of gaming everyday. Strictly an hour. No more, no less. That hour will be gained from avoiding some TV shows/movies which I waste my time on.

The only problem is, I've been thinking of this "hour" for a few months now. :fear:

Honestly if you liked it you would find time. The fact that you arent usually means its not that important to you. And thats fine. People's interests change and it sounds like thats whats happened to you guys. Nothing wrong with that, enjoy what you like doing now. It doesnt always have to be videogames.

Dont try to force it by making time. Its supposed to be a hobby, not work or studies. And time you spent enjoying yourself (TV or movies) isnt time wasted. Not anymore than "wasting" it on video games.

same here :( spending more time on Movies and TV Shows than gaming..miss those days when I could play for hours :( I keep thinking maybe games these days don't have that charm which games back then had :scratchchin:

Seems to me you are losing interest in the hobby. The fact that you find time for movies/shows but not gaming justifies that.If it's good or bad thing, that depends on you.Games have not lost the charm. There is still a lot of variety so maybe try a different genre.

Also,time to join a new forum..Indian Movie Watcher? :P

I cut off watching stuff and instered invest time on gaming. I only watch movies now and that too being very selective.

In my experience gaming reqularly can be quite frustrating if you do it after working all day. While watching movies, sitcoms etc can be far more rellaxing. But I still somehow sticked with gaming.

If you can afford or feel like skipping on sitcoms etc you can easily make some time for gaming. But in the end it's all up to you what you wanna do in your free time.

On a serious note, I have lost interest on gaming, it's become boring and stereotype for me. Maybe I have grown old, my latest hobby is spending time modding my car. I am back to listening to music in my free time and really enjoying it, while planning what to do next with the car or bike. I come to this site also now to meet some old buddies, who are also slowly leaving. So not sure how long I will be around too, majority of my posts are now in GC.

Only game I am interested this year is UC4,that too I am not too sure if I will be picking day one.

Priorities change with time, and it is perfectly normal. No point forcing yourself into something that don't excite you anymore.

Wow - wasn't expecting such hearty response! Thanks for sharing your mind and your status in this sphere guys. Comforting to see it's not just I who's going through this.

Could some of you share your work week schedule (who still manage to indulge in gaming) to take notes ? May be I'm just managing my time wrong, willing to try to plan my days a little more strategically (the 1hr. rule  )

Hey man, Happy New Year.

You literally went of the radar after buying that PC. XD

Thanks man! Wish you a very happy 2016! yea have been off the grid, need to make my way to the heartbreak thread, that's what kept me busy last year (what a waste) slowly trying to take control now, putting energies into my older hobbies

I also have a hunch that these sitcoms / movies ARE infact a quick fix and hence becoming the obvious choice over gaming

you need to get married :notangel:

mom is that you! ? :panic:

It happens. One of the biggest reasons why I play Diablo so much is because it's the perfect game for me to let loose for about 40mins - 1hr. Don't force yourself to play, it'll make you detest it even more. I keep myself occupied with lot of other things(Barcamp/Stack Exchange/some tech reads) etc.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Put it in the past, grumble a little, play some games, read books.

That is what I did in the past two years.
