baba dench Posted July 1, 2009 Report Share Posted July 1, 2009 So i was playing Mirror's Edge today, the game conked and since then my ps3 has not been reading any discs, tried a bunch of different cd's, its not working The console works fine, just doesn't read any discs'. Mumbai guys help!!! 2 of my frnds have gotthe same problem.....you need to buy a lens from grwey market for about 3-4k and get it installed....nothing else wrong........... Anybody know what happened here? any suggestions? ^ My problem is also same as above I came back after a vacation and my ps3 was lying in the open. There was dust accumulation on the top so I cleaned the top and started the system. There was no disc in the ps3 drive when I had left for vacation. I inserted the Fifa 09 game and the game started normally. Just in the middle of the game (maybe 5 mins later), the commentary started going off and on (sound fading and coming back) and then when I tried to restart the game, the game hanged and I then pressed the PS button and then quite the game. Now it doesn't read any more discs be it blue ray or normal discs. I tried restoring my ps3 to factory settings but even that didn't help. As my ps3 is from Singapore and more than 1 year of purchase, do you guys suggest that I open the ps3 myself and try cleaning the lens ? Or should I get it changed altogether? achilles Posted August 11, 2009 Report Share Posted August 11, 2009 oka.. this mite not be the best thread to ask this q.. but i need a def answer.. so any1 who can help..please... i have replaced the HD in my ps3.. so wen a new PS3 comes to me (if i get it replaced) and i put this HD in with all the data would it be usable..?? if not, would my backup(of this same HD) atleast restore fully? or would it cause an issue with the new ps3 as it would be a completely different machine..!! or would i end up loosng my account and all saves n everything..?? hope not. solidsid Posted September 27, 2009 Report Share Posted September 27, 2009 SOD strikes mine too... was playin uc2 beta..thn decided to play some batman..popped in the disc..it din read it..popped in burnout,motorstorm , some blu ray movies..dvd movies..music cd's..but it jus doesn read them... i was on fw3.00 ...updated to 3.01 but still no use... is lens replacement the only solution?? will the sony guys do it or shld i approach the grey market..?? mine is a 40gig model..out of warranty ..1 and a half years old...i bought it india frm sony showrom.... i am from chennai... help frm ny part of india will be appreciatd..
