MarketTantrik
^^ Whatever the reason, or the point of failure, the outcome is the same. Gamers are afraid to use their consoles for fear of breaking them.
vinitwins
^ only IF the problem was as widespread as the RROD failures on the 360 - it isn't (nowhere close even)! V
MarketTantrik
^^ Read the previous posts on this page. People are afraid to use their consoles. You were afraid to update yours. It may not be as widespread, but the phobia is very much present.

MAK
What i gather from this post and from other websites this issue is more for ppl who have a NTSC-J 60 GB model on FW 2.0.1 which i have so thus the worry... I rather not risk it and wait since i have my 360 to play with honestly...
MarketTantrik
Its not just here. The Playstation forums have also been rife with rumours and fear mongers about this problem. It hasnt' affected many gamers, but the fact that it has affected some of them without any apparent rhyme or reason is why people are scared. I guess all that is left now is for Sony to come out and state their theory on what is wrong and what can be done to fix it. I hope they dont follow M$'s plan of keeping their traps shut for half a year while gamers around the world suffered the indignity of the RRoD. Even you were afraid. And Mak is afraid, and reaper was afraid. nope - only two of our members have experienced this so-called glitch - and do some further reading, the problem has been prevalent since fw1.94, the only reason why 2.01 is blamed is because people blindly updated their firmware to the latest in order to play COD4 (and other games) online... the problem exists only with defective BR drives + COD4 + fw 1.94 (and higher) - so if you do have a faulty drive, it's gonna conk out sooner or later in any case. V ps: rather than spreading & believing FUD, if you are feeling paranoid about your ps3, avoid playing COD4 on it (and every new game that releases thereafter )
Hot-Drake-Pixel
I have been playing since FW 1.93 to 2.01. Console's PAL UK Region. Don't have COD4 though(COD3 instead, on which I have put in more than 30hrs online). Playing now on daily basis. Console's BD drive rock solid so far. Snake
I went thru the topics at the official PS forum....all the members who have probs have only 1 or 2 posts and have never returned to chk if the prob has been sorted. If ur PS3 is not working would u just post in the forum saying" my PS3 is not working" and never F'ing return?? One 2..yes only 2 proper member with more than 2k posts have this probs, what abt the others??
lastAvenger
The point is that the problem still exists and there is no fix as of now for those out of region consoles. Even i am in a dilemma what to do because i can't come up with 25k for the PAL PS3 when u get it for prices like 16k , 13k etc.
vinitwins
it's not a widespread problem - a few GI members (i was a part of the initial hysteria myself) are succumbing to the FUD cloud. V
MarketTantrik
@Snake: Its generally the symptom with any forum. Blockheads pop up when they have an issue. They get yelled at by the senior members, then they never show up again. A look at our statistics is also quite revealing about the activity of a majority of our members. It doesn't mean that a problem doesn't exist. It could mean that the problem could be attributed to "I'm Stupid" errors rather than technical defects. Or may be not. (Sorry Reaper, I dont believe you are stupid).

Snake
I really do think this problem is more abt trolls than anything else,i suggest everyone take a look at the PS forums..go have a look they all say the same thing "I bought a 60/80/40 GB PS3..now itss not working...sony will replace it,are all PS3 breaking/maybe it has a life span" One jerkoff even says that his PS3's tray does not open after the 2.01 update!! MarketTantrik
@Makatak: We were discussing the benefits of online play between the console versions. Quite frankly, I'm very happy about CoD4 on XBL. Our Indian gang is terrific and we have good fun. And I guess thats the reason why you chose the X360 version. This spin-of-death problem is not prevalent among PS3s. Quite frankly, your X360 is equally likely to RRoD while playing CoD4 as your PS3's drive would sh*t itself playing CoD4.
