People calling for boycott because the VA wasnt offered enough money can suck my balls. If you don't think your employer is paying you what you're worth, move on like the rest of the world does.

Bad take, bruh. She was the definitive voice of Bayo. 4000 USD for someone voicing the titular character ? Most senior VAs get paid in 5 or 6 digits. And the game will anyway make millions in revenue and profit.

Also BEWARE OF MY RULES. f**king teen angst idiot.

Kamiya in genral is a manchild i agree.

She didn't get offered what she was worth, she moved on to the next job. Unless there is some mass abuse happening at the studio, i don't really get calling for boycott?

Imagine low balling Charles for his Mario voice ? Not having the iconic voice for any games ?

People get lowballed in job offers on a regular basis,  should everyone go out on social media and ask for boycott?:scratchchin: or is this exclusive to famous people?

That is the entire point of calling out employers trying to take advantage of employees. So that they are not able to exploit employees. This amazing attitude of stop bitching and move on to other employer is ridiculous especially considering how it isn't so easy in reality.

They did replace Charles with Chris Pratt and people will still watch movie

Did you see the alternate, and much better version, without Pratt's voice ?

And his voice is used for the movie, not the game. Charles net worth is hitting millions of dollars btw. And his fan base is big enough that Nintendo cannot afford to low ball him.

Is this just a job though ? Iconic franchise with iconic voice, mannerisms, gameplay etc.

I don't think boycott will work, but it just shows the kind of sh*t show behind the scenes even for relatively famous people.

Would be unfair to say anything without hearing Platinum side of story.

$4000 should be like a month salary for normal office work. I assume voice acting a game would take longer than that.

Platinum would get sued for paying that much in US. Would go below minimum wages.

if platinum think she worth just 4k then she better move on instead of calling for boycott. maybe its not like some other cinematic games where VA has to do hours and hours of recording plus do performance capture for the cutscenes. also platinum is known to make games on small/limited budget despite backing from big publishers, so its not like theyre taking & keeping all the money for themselves.

I wonder what the numbers were for Bayo 1/2 to get such a small number for 3.

Don't get what's the big deal here? The VA was not forced to work nor was she abused. There was no crime committed against her. She got an offer. It was extremely low. She refused. They replaced her and got someone else. For those calling "Less than Minimum Wage" - even if true, she did not work, she just saw a letter and refused. Platinum did not even have to make her an offer if they did not want her at all. There was no compulsion. There is no need to boycott anything.

For those telling "Iconic Voice" - again it's immaterial. We don't know the quality of the new VA. The old VA calling for a Boycott is disgusting. She's essentially holding a ton of people - including other VAs and all Development Employees hostage because she's having a temper tantrum over not getting a job that's on a project-by-project contract basis anyway.

Also tons of VAs have been replaced who have been considered "Iconic" - far more than Bayonetta's VA ever was. So Many Disney Properties, Looney Tunes Properties etc. have had their VAs replaced because the actors got too old or for other reasons. Cancel culture is getting too far if even Contract Employees can hold employers hostage just because they cannot renew their contracts.

Worst Part - people have not even heard what Platinum have to say before bringing out their pitchforks. Bayonetta is not a huge IP frankly. Bayo 3 was made for the fans. Platinum can easily move onto other projects and erase Bayo from history altogether. As far as this project is concerned - a single VA is replaceable, Platinum is not. Bayonetta will not exist without Platinum and Kamiya and even if some other dev gets their hands on it - it will not be the same.

None of this would've happened if Bayo is on muliplatform. Screw it. Boycott whole thing so that Part 2 and 3 comes on all the platforms :p

It will not. At this point it's more of a question of - if it succeeds, good. If it fails - bury the IP and forget about it. Last Bayo game was in 2014. Nintendo bankrolls the IP and Platinum need take no risks. If Bayo fails, they'll most likely work on other projects under different publishers like Nier for SE, Astral Chain Sequel for Nintendo etc. Platinum is not a publisher AFAIK. They develop only, they don't take risks or bankroll projects. Don't think even Nintendo cares much about Bayo IP at this point or we would be on the 4th or 5th game in the 10 years time between Bayo 2 release and Bayo 3.

Not really. Apparently that's the Jap way of saying "we don't want to work with you", and things got lost due to cultural difference.

Her replacement Jennifer Hale is quite a legend in the industry, and wouldn't have come cheap at all.

The 4000 rate was just an insult to an established senior VA.
