Official Nintendo Switch Thread

I don't think they can get away with it. After the initial or holiday surge, this price point isn't Nintendo's domain. Switch sold millions due to cheap pricing and novel form factor. With SteamOS devices, don't think Switch 2 is a novelty anymore.

So far no console seller games - great lineup but nothing which pushes me to get it ASAP. Very iterative, without anything standing out.

Plus the mouse mode seems super gimmicky - you'll need a hard surface to use it - which means no "real" couch coop or playing in bed. Hard surface must - which is quite ridiculous tbh.

If Sony got away with it on PS5 launch - Nintendo easily will on Switch 2 launch! Release a new Zelda/Pokemon/Mario and even at $100 - they'll see the games flying off shelves and sales in millions I expect! These IPs are huge and big enough to give GTA a competition sales wise (maybe beat it too - just that these are a different market and not selling to usual GTA crowd)

What will fail though - is when other publishers try the same! I can't see any other IPs other than Rockstar and Nintendo (and maybe the FIFA and the MMO crowd, now that even COD is dying) If Sony tries charging $100 for even major IPs like ND games like Intergalactic or Wolverine or Ubisoft or other 3rd party publishers (MS has become a non-entity at this point I think) too fast, before people are completely used to it - they'll fall flat on their faces! But once people are used to it- expect prices to stay high, including GPU and PS+ prices

Nintendo is not charging $90 for just Zelda/Mario/Pokemon.

Even old dusted titles that have already been out on PS5 & PC for years will be $90 on Switch 2.

Why the f**k would anyone buy an inferior port of an old game which available on PS5 & Steam for half or even less!!

This $90 price point is way overboard no matter which way you look at it.

Most likely 3rd parties are free to charge what they want just like on PS or Xbox! It doesn't make a difference though! 90% of Nintendo game sales are 1st party games and 3rd parties will just make some extra money out of it! I think the publishers already know this! That's why they're putting out so many Remasters of ages old games with some additions and not brand new games! Some extra copies sold for $60 or 5k Rs would be bonus for them now on titles going for $5/300 Rs on other platforms! Not much effort and expense and get some money! Only some new 3rd party games were announced from what I know!

Markets are already f**ked ,recession is looming all over. This is like the worst time to increase game prices.
60$ stayed for 2-3 generations and then 20$-30$  increase in a span of 4-5 years is not good.

Hoping nintendo finds out the hard way

They were already $70 weren’t they?!?

But if third party is free to decide then I see no real issue.

You’ve been saying this since 2019.

Its on a game by game basis and I am sure 3rd parties can set their own prices. Even Nintendo's own games differ. New Switch 2 exclusive DK is 70 whereas MK World is 80. Streed Fighter 6 is 60.

Apparently the games that are fully on the game card are more expensive cos the storage used for the newer game cards is more expensive.

Nintendo prices dont come down actually ,they know they have a monoply in the kind of games they have . At most 90$ game will come down to 70$ after 3-4 years 😂.

Also dont think the prices are due to tariffs but pure greed instead. Otherwise they could have easily kept the digital prices same and increased the physical prices only and put the reasoning on the tariffs which everyone would have understood . You dont increase worldwide prices due to the USA.

Imagine paying 9k for day 1 games going forward ,no hardware manufacturer is in favour of physical games as it is so buying and selling will continue to shrink.

f**k man GP sub prices will also increase once everyone raises their prices which is inevitable.

In short our hobby is f**ked

Prices will be lower here since most resellers import from HK. HK pricing is around 38k. Expect it to go down after 2-3 years just like Switch.

Games have always costed less than US prices here if you buy from local resellers. Most 1st party went for 3900-4200 INR at launch vs 60-70 USD.

Sony at least gave us Astro for free! Ninty is charging 10 usd for tech demo. It's pretty insane. They did the same for 1-2 Switch last gen.

Gone are the free Wii Sports days.

SD Express cards will also be super expensive since they aren't used for anything else. You'll be at the mercy of resellers again.

It's quite a f**kup.

Most likely they won't release it again! I don't remember Nintendo launching any recent consoles officially in India! That said I expect  it'll still be very widely available- and frankly soon enough even more available than what PS5 was at launch (officially) and much more widespread availability than what PS5 Pro is right now unofficially

Nintendo is looking for vendors in Indian market.

Specs are powerful than PS4 Pro or same?

If not then price too high imo

On paper, they are identical but it won’t matter anyway.

Switch’s memory bandwidth is bottlenecked.
It’s significantly lower than last gen consoles.
