Max Pain
Sony hasn't hit critical mass yet. 100K PS4s only. PC install base is a lot higher here. Plus, Novaplay's lobbied quite intensely for local payment options for over a year and a half. No one doing the same with Sony just yet. And until there's a proper way to region lock the crap out of non-Indians using Indian accounts on PSN, it will be tough. Anyway, Switch online service to cost between $17.50 and 26.50 per year. And in case you were still holding out, an official Indian launch in March is unlikely. It'd be extremely helpful if you could tell us how much higher the PC install base is here in India. EDIT: According to Steam Spy, total no of active users are 1,126,802 ± 96,396. Edited February 8, 2017 by The Panda
CarbonCore
How the heck a handheld is priced so high Nintendoh is mad. Its a hybrid so it can be anything Nintendo wants it to be in any situation. For eg. 'why is it so expensive for a handheld?' 'because its a home console' 'but its not powerful enough to be one' 'because its also a handheld' 'but handhelds are dying and mobile phones are everywhere' 'well...its a home console so we don't compete with smart phones' 'but it has shitty online play for a console' 'umm its a handheld so you can take it with you and play with other people directly' 'but its too big and has a shitty battery life' 'because its a home console first' 'where's my Metroid?' 'fk off'

Shadoken
Steam has a bigger user base even in the US. 10m PS4s vs 34m on Steam. Also out of 1 million Steam userbase in India am sure half of them are there just for Dota 2 , which is a free game. PC is always going to be more , in any region ( Maybe except Japan). But a person spending 30k to buy a PS4 is waaaay more likely to actually "buy" a game than the thousands of pirates or Dota 2 players. I think the main issue is region locking , whatever you do its not worth losing millions of dollars over a 100k userbase, even if the potential to grow that userbase to millions is there with regional pricing. Sach4life
Install base of PS4 is 18-20 million in US,not 10 million.
Shadoken
Lol you are right , I looked at the older numbers. But regardless , if you look at PS4 vs Steam userbase ratio in Europe its pretty much in Steams favor. Point am trying to make is , PS4 will always be lesser than PC ( Which is waaay more accessible , and not treated as a high end luxury device). But that shouldn't stop regional pricing. If it is possible to safely region lock a cheaper price to India then it should be done. Instead its sometimes even higher than US/EU pricing. PS4 might never reach a high userbase if games are always expensive. Edited February 22, 2017 by Shadoken
ALPHA17
I don't think they'll even bother. Indian user base is just too small for them. I don't think it's even one tenth of US. And it's already selling well. Has more credit to one party stringently clueless about its India ops.

blitzkreiig
Guys, I'm thinking of cancelling my Switch pre-order from Amazon. Have pre-ordered Zelda: Breath Of The Wild too. If anyone is interested in the console/game, please let me know soon. Asking because as of now, none of the online retailers are shipping to India anymore. VelivolusDas
https://twitter.com/JohnCena/status/834855042037473280 Im floored by the technology of the Switch, and the versatility of the console is second to none, said Cena. It really is a home console that you can take anywhere. Ive seen situations where home consoles can be transported, and its like a big over-the-shoulder carry-on bag, but the versatility of this thing is groundbreaking. When you undock the Switch from its home console and go into handheld, the controller feels the same, it is the same, and it reacts the same. The screen on the undocked handheld system is big enough to be its own world, but small enough to carry anywhere. The capability to play the Switch anywhere, Cena noted, is what is so groundbreaking about the console. I was in this confined living room space where you got lost in the game cause Im playing on this 60-inch TV, and then you undock and continue to play the game, said Cena. They had this molecular glass, which dropped and revealed I was in the middle of the desert. I never once knew the change in environment. Its truly, truly tremendous. In typical Nintendo fashion, I was playing Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Now I havent played Legend of Zelda since the gold cartridge eight-bit versions, so I just needed to pick up and start going, and I did. The go-anywhere aspect of the game is incredible, and I know for fans of the Zelda franchise, theyre going to flip. I know for fans of Nintendo, theyre going to go crazy. Everyone is speculating about how good the game actually isits going to exceed expectations and, for a dude like me, a 40-year-old [in April] who hasnt played Zelda since the gold cartridge, I sat down and was hooked. In a matter of 30-minutes, I didnt want to put it down.
