Gameplay was alright but story and characters are easily one of the best I have seen in any video game till date. I will personally rate it far above stories we see in Western AAA games made by ND, Bioware, Rockstar nd all. I loved eveything except those God awful mini games which are required to be completed in order to get Platinum :/ Man, iam getting Yakuza 6 Dayone when it's out in March this year. hmm seems i should buy it

Games like Yakuza, Persona etc. are actually gems and far better than most of the games in the market. But a little sad that most people will not give such series a chance and go for the latest AAA like Horizon etc. But most of those who do give a chance, become fans of the series. Kiwami is like Yakuza 0? People saying it's a Remastered with extremely dated mechanics and more frustrating mini games?

Can't miss this one though. Random Goons attack you in this game as well but you can run away from them if you are careful.
roun90
@WhiteWolf Regarding Kiwami, for my opinion; please see my post yesterday on PS4 and Xbox one thread (page 237; reply to i_rock). It's a remake, not a remaster. But overall story is a bit shorter than 0 and only Kiryu is playable (since they have to keep up with Y1). But it's quite worth it. Graphics and gameplay are on par with 0. Story has been modified a bit to acknowledge 0's events. Also, you will get to know the fates of some friends you made in Y0. roun90
@WhiteWolf Also, keep in mind that Kiwami/1 is the actual series start. It introduces lots if characters who are important to the series. Yakuza 0 is only a prequel, and one of the adventures in Kiryu's and Majima's life. Play Yakuza 6 without Kiwami, you will not know anyone except Kiryu and Majima. Play it after playing Kiwami, you will know many important characters (although they will be older). And you will have some care for them.

So, I'll be able to follow the story if I jump straight to 6 from 0 and Kiwami, without playing 2,3,4,5?

roun90
@krados You can. You will know almost all the important characters. You can look at Yakuza 6 as it's own adventure. Every Yakuza game has it's own story, just with same characters and some links to the past. Only the characters will be older. For example, some characters who are kids in Kiwami, for example, will be older and have their own kids. Kiryu (the main protag), will be an extremely fit, but he is 48 years old in 6 (He was 20 in Yakuza 0). You can look at the series as the adventures in life of Kazuma Kiryu (they are awesome adventures BTW; I would highly recommend both). I personally started with Yakuza 4. Didn't have much of a problem. They did have some previous game recap videos in 4, but I didn't pay much attention to them But the thing is, if you skip Kiwami and only play 0, then it will be like (from Witcher example) - You know Geralt, because of a side adventure. But you don't know who Dandelion, Triss, Zoltan, Ciri, Yenneffer etc. are. So I would recommend you play both, then you might be set for 6. Kiwami 2 is on the way as well.

WhiteWolf
I hate trophies in this game. Some trophies are very annoying and relies heavily on RNG :/ Iam gonna drop my plan to get Platinum Adity Everything is top notch except gameplay and some side mini games. CarbonCore
Glad that more people are discovering this gem, and Yakuza series in general. And if you say the story, characters, dialog etc are the best you've ever seen in a videogame, let me blow your mind by pointing out that its entirely spoken in a language you don't understand one bit.
Monokuma
The entire game can be summed up as "Dem feels." Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
Ethan_Hunt
I'm now at the 50 hour mark with this game and absolutely obsessed with it. Been playing it constantly for the past 2 weeks now. I'm on chapter 7 (or 8) at the moment and been only involved in the cabaret club mission for hours endlessly. Been trying to max the stats on all the ladies and only just beat 2 clubs. My own club is at A rank at the moment. I love chatting with Ai-Chan. Her training session always is an endearing one, love her personality. Man there is just so much content in this game that its overwhelming. Snake
Finally found a easy way to beat Mr.Shakedown with Kiryu. Stockup on zap guns and spicy knives You can takedown with 18 rounds easily
Ethan_Hunt
Zap Gun is the easiest way. I always have my inventory stocked full with them. You can just repair them when they run out of bullets. With Majima I'm now upto 29 billion Yen. Maxed out my thug skill tree. Can't wait to do the same with Kiryu. Has anyone attempted 100% completion on this game? I can deal with most of the requirements, but the mini-games part is horrible. Leave aside the fact that there are so many of them, completing them with an absurd score/difficulty is insane. The disco & karaoke mini game were so difficult (for me personally). Defeated Club Venus last night. It was tough battle, but managed to power through. 2 more clubs left now.
