gecko89
Greetings fellow IVG members !!! This is not entirely a gaming issue but i figured this is the right forum. Please point me in the right direction if i'm wrong. Ok, so I live in Bangalore in a rented house with 3 roommates. We have an ACT Internet connection, 50Mbps til 75GB, thereafter 512kbps. All four of us have various devices feeding off the network. we strictly don't download movies over the net (At least i don't), yet we managed to finish 75gigs in 2 weeks. Now, we don't grab each others necks but there's some finger pointing. Since, i have more number of devices (which includes PS4) they say i might be the culprit. We need to know who the real culprit is. I need a way to track the data usage over WiFi for each device. I did some research and found that i can install custom firmware in my router like DDWRT, Open WRT etc.,. Also, these only track the data usage at a particular time, to monitor the data usage over a month i need a router with USB port that supports mass storage. Found a few routers but are very expensive. So I need a router with a USB port that is supported by third party firmware that's priced between 1000-1500 (I know . . lots of filters ) Or if you guys know of any other way to monitor data usage by devices (smartphones, laptops and my PS4), that would be helpful too. Or if you guys ever faced a similar problem, how did you resolve it ?
DinJo
You can try wr841n though the requirements and budget doesn't goes off well
gecko89
@ DinJo . . Thanks for the suggestion, but wr841n doesn't seem to have a USB port. The info Amazon.in is wrong.
goDofWar_skr
I think you can enable bandwidth control in the router and set the data usage limit to specific mac ids in the router.. this can be one way to find out which device is exhausting its quota first or in other words which device is the culprit.. Hmm. I could try that, i'll look into it the router settings. Thanks for the suggestion Same problem here.50mbps.Limit is 25gb.After limit is crossed, speed is 1MBPS which gets divided by 3.Cant play UC4 MP Damn . . 25GB is pretty low for 50Mbps speed, and even if you connect with 1Mbps it will rubber band a lot (Tried UC4 multipayer with mobile hotspot - Airtel 3G).
