Nr.Draca47
Air purifier for at home needs. For travelers N99 or N95 masks. As name suggests 99% or 95% air filtered. N95 filters 3microns particle, not effective at filtering 2.5micron particles. However cheap at less than 100Rs while other costs 2k. Note: Delhi pollution is being rated as per PM2.5, which refers to 2.5m particles. PS: Units and measurements may be off PS2: above data is from single source, may be not up to the mark

Add to that the fact that Indians have to be amongst the most selfish people on Earth. We don't care about our surroundings or for our fellow citizens. This is evident from the fact that Delhites were not willing to cooperate during odd-even phase even though it affected them for only a week. Despite repeated warnings and requests by the Green tribunal, farmers in Haryana and Punjab burnt 50million tonnes of crop stubble which has ultimately been responsible for the mess Delhi-Ncr is in right now.Despite repeated calls for boycott on crackers, a significant part of the population not only burnt crackers, but also burnt the banned toxic chinese crackers despite knowing very well what king of toxicity these spread. Our so called people's party is engaged in opportunistic politics while the central government is getting back at Delhites for the defeat they faced in elections. It's hardly surprising our country is becoming a hell hole.

Banz
We Indians breed like animals (especially the lower classess) without any check. Add to that the fact that Indians have to be amongst the most selfish people on Earth. We don't care about our surroundings or for our fellow citizens. India's population isn't high because Indians are breeding like animals, it has been that way since the civilisation existed. Before the industrial revolution, India's population was almost a third of the world. Population of a land will naturally grow to what its land supports and north India has the most fertile river plain in the world. People have been having lots of kids for all of history, but until last century most kids would die before reaching adulthood. Since independence population of India has grown steadily because there have been any famines (unike the ones in the British era) and improvements in medicine. The population is projected to rise to 1.7 billion by 2050. Individual people decide their family size by choice, but the actions of the group as a whole are not by choice. On the other hand fertility rate in sub-Saharan Africa is quite high but they have low population because children keep dying due to disease and starvation. It's hardly surprising our country is becoming a hell hole. Well mostly Dilli, it's fine here.
goDofWar_skr
Add to that the fact that Indians have to be amongst the most selfish people on Earth. We don't care about our surroundings or for our fellow citizens. Right on point. My thoughts exactly. I will quote a simple incident here. During this diwali, I was discussing with one of my colleagues who belongs from around the Delhi side of the country. No offense to anyone intended. When I was asked what I was gonna do in diwali, I said that I would light some diyas and enjoy a good home cooked meal with family like I have been doing for several years now. To this he was surprised and asked why no crackers? I told him that I would not want to contribute more towards more pollution however small it may be, by not bursting crackers myself or allowing my family to do so. He was like it doesn't matter if you burst crackers for 1-2 hrs for one day once in a year. Also in facebook he has seen some swami ji's video telling that we drive vehicles and industries year long which cause far more pollution. So bursting crackers for 1-2 hrs once in a year is no problem and no one should stop us from doing so since we are Indians and diwali is our festival. I was like, OK you can do what you want but I prefer to not contribute anything extra to pollution and global warming over things on which I have control. For this again his reply was like global warming is also caused due to CO2 emissions, so when you breather you exhale CO2, so can you stop breathing then. That was the point when I understood, there are still people in the world, who qualify themselves as educated and make such nonsensical argument. So no wonder about the people who are uneducated, spoiled brats of wealthy corrupt people who fail to see the consequences. They don't care about the next generation. ThatPSFanboy
.... from around the Delhi side of the country. No offense to anyone intended... Not all Delhiites are like that, I enjoyed the Diwali in a very similar fashion like you. Yes, people like us do exist in northern part of India but I also understand that this part is loaded with people who have a very casual attitude and are blinded by the sudden surge of huge money they have got and feel like they own the world. What we need are steps taken by the government to educate people about what we are not doing right, if that doesn't work, ENFORCE rules and regulation and not worry about vote banks, vote banks are mostly loaded with people who are habituated of freebies, any person who has seen how the world is and how our country works and see the difference, would vote for people who have done a better job in their tenure, they may not be necessarily highly educated but just have the basic sense, both civic and common and understand the importance of preserving the environment.
