Well certainly not all online games, *Overwatch* .. sure more are there but can't recall it right now.

Besides if a game doesn't have P2W MT's and just grinding is the only way to get things what you need then it's equal for everybody who bought the game. It's called a fair game.

You know the skills goes into thrash if a guy who has cards and the other has none would have huge advantage over him. For eg Boba Fett has a card that can take a 100% damage reduction that means (invincibility) if he uses his jetpack. So that means the skilled guy can't do shite to him.

Yea I'm too only interested in SP now. Access is my best option.

Overwatch has no progression. The endgame is nothing but collecting skins/cosmetics.

I'm not supporting the MT here. I'm just saying that it doesn't affect the portion I'm looking forward to. SP and arcade are MT free and honestly even MP didn't feel P2W in BETA.

Did you feel like you were outmatched in BETA due to loot boxes? I don't know how media is even covering it before the game is even out. ZynGBYx.png

Sure one can spend all the money but that doesn't buy your skills

In this game it clearly does. And star cards are active in the Arcade game mode too.

Just because your main purpose is single player and Arcade and you are not disturbed by microtransactions in the multiplayer does not mean it is alright for them to exist. This is stupid logic.

Sad that the multiplayer population of this game will plummet because new players will feel like cannon fodder.

Yup, a guy can use his abilities twice as fast because he has the Gold Resourceful star card.

Stack it with other ability boosters and you have a recipe for disaster.

EA already knows about it and they still went ahead and released the BETA with crates so that everyone will start talking about it. Right now everyone is upset with it and imagine how much good of a PR it's going to be when they release a press statement with "We heard the community" and make changes to it. People will praise. Yay, they have listened and everything goes back to normal and pre-order number goes even more and EA becomes the hero in everyone's eyes and media will start praising again.

The loot boxes already state contents and rarity distribution are intended for multiplayer beta only. Watch them tweak and everyone will forget about it near launch.

Or EA doesn't give a jack about what you think and release the game as it's STAR WARS and will sell millions regardless how loot boxes are.

Here you go, just like I said

We know you have a lot of questions about Crates and progression, so we want to clarify a few things, as the complete system was not in the Beta and will continue to be tuned over time:

  • There are many things you can earn in the game, including weapons, attachments, credits, Star Cards, Emotes, Outfits and Victory Poses.
  • As a balance goal, we’re working towards having the most powerful items in the game only earnable via in-game achievements.
  • Crates will include a mix of of Star Cards, Outfits, Emotes or Victory Poses.
  • Players earn crates by completing challenges and other gameplay milestones, or by purchasing them with in-game credits or Crystals, our premium currency.
  • If you get a duplicate Star Card in a crate, you will get crafting parts which you can then use to help upgrade the Star Card of your choice.
  • And lastly, you have to earn the right to be able to upgrade Star Cards and unlock most Weapons. You can only upgrade or unlock them if you have reached a high enough rank, which is determined by playing the game.

The first three points are just the same words stated in three different ways.

So, how does a player get crystals? Are crystals in-game or purchasable via real-world money?

The final point pretty much nullifies new players ever being at par with veterans, although it does mean that someone can pretty much buy their way up if "Crystals" can be picked up for real-world cash and the guy goes on a crate binge.

Yeah! This is just corporate 1337-speech 101 to obfuscate and make the loot crates look like a benign alternative.

Except it won't matter if day one you boot up to buy up all the crates because you can't just craft all your upgrades and level up your star cards without player rank. Player rank is only increased by playing games.

You can spend $$$ and still won't be able to use any of it without actually playing. The idea then is that nobody can just dump extra money in at the start to gain an advantage over those who are playing to progress.

Nowhere does it say that you cannot get high-level Star Card out of a loot crate. It is all up to "Chance".

You cannot upgrade/use without actually levelling up. And that happens only if you play the game. A new player simply cannot dump his money and jack himself up.

Also, all the good/powerful items will be available only via in-game achievements.

Next thing people will say "ooh, that's not good. What about casual who don't want to go for achievements but still want powerful cards". QREH2I4.png

Never been the case till now in any DICE game, do not see it changing now.

And yes, if the entire system was built to be fair, we would not have different grades of loot boxes which promises us legendaries. Legendary what, victory poses?

Nope, you can equip upto 3 of those cards and those slots aren't tied to player level but class level and class level is tied to how many and what level cards you own. It means is you can just go and buy a bunch of loot boxes with real money get bunch of cards and max out you characters class level and it'll unlock all card slots in one go, you can equip all those overpowered star cards as you desire.

But you can earn loot boxes in game, yes definitely 'says EA' but in actual its a long and painful grind. One match gives you 150 credits to everyone (LOL) and a cheapest loot box costs 1000 credits, upgrades can only be done with crafting parts and you can get 20-30 max per loot box, star cards upgrades take 500+ and weapons/weapons upgrades take around 1000 crafting parts. Do the math how many loot boxes and matches you'll have to play to gain them. Cherry on top it's all RANDOM.

This is a MP focused game with SP is just a bonus and by this it's pretty much clear this game is a PAY TO WIN.

PTW Multiplayer game? This is worst of all. Stop defending this BS Joe.

It's multiplayer game. Of course, it's going to be a grind to unlock. People are acting as if other MP games are generous with the reward. Takes ages to unlock anything in Overwatch for example.

And, no, you cannot simply buy crates and use them without playing and levelling up. Second, all the overpowered/good stars cards are locked with achievements and not loot boxes.

As a balance goal, we’re working towards having the most powerful items in the game only earnable via in-game achievements.

As for credits, you are already given loot boxes for 1) daily logins, 2) for challenges you complete, 3) for playing, etc. Not sure how you expect 1000 credits every match. That's not progression works.

I couldn't care less if someone buys them or not. The changes they have made are better than what it was. But hey, feel free to ride the anti-EA circlejerk. At least they are not charging for post-launch content unlike some.

Just learnt a wonderful thing today, if you want to progress a class type you need to have a Star Card for it.

Skill, time played, etc, do not count unless you do not have at least one Star Card equipped. This thing makes Shadow of Microtransactions looks good.
