nah Dude, fold only through PS3. Folding through PC is damn slow and I mean damn slow.

You are better of not folding then folding through a PC.

Actually i have started folding through my PC (I dont have a PS3 yet :( ), my current score of 2713 with 52 WU, got it by continuous folding for about 10 days now (as my PC is always on 24/7, I have a quad core processor, so i have been running 2 instances of folding process on 1 core each)

What is Foldig@Home?

Folding@home (also known as FAH or F@H) is a distributed computing project designed to perform computationally intensive simulations of protein folding and other molecular dynamics simulations. It was launched on October 1, 2000, and is currently managed by the Pande Group, within Stanford University's Chemistry department, under the supervision of Professor Vijay S. Pande. Folding@home is one of the largest distributed computing projects.[1] The goal of the project is "to understand protein folding, misfolding, and related diseases."[2]

Accurate simulations of protein folding and misfolding enable the scientific community to better understand the development of many diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, BSE (mad cow disease), cancer, Huntington's Disease, Cystic Fibrosis and other aggregation related diseases. [2] More fundamentally, understanding the process of protein folding — how biological molecules assemble themselves into a functional state — is one of the outstanding problems of molecular biology. So far, the Folding@home project has successfully simulated folding in the 5-10 microsecond range — a time scale thousands of times longer than it was previously thought possible to model

How to join?

Click triangle when running the folding client and select Identity. There you can choose a name and a team, add ps3 indians id number.you are now officially in the team

PS3Indians Team NO-82598

Tip: if you are dowloading a certain file from the PSN store ,set it to the background and start folding@home that way both tasks will be completed and you'll be contributing to the society.

PS3indians folding@home stats

i have done over 120work units with another team which work on cancer program. But i am interested in joining u guys as we indians can cntribute together.

Everybody should be doing this, PC or PS3, and laptops. When i was in India I installed it secretly on all the computers in my school (and added my id on all of them :P). I run it everywhere, have over 1000 units folded so far.

I have been folding for quit some time now. Didn't know there was a GI Team ! Will join immidiately :wallbash: ! In fact I am folding right now !

To people who don't know: Its a program made by an Indian origin Doc to use the spare processing power of computers and ps3 all over the world. Basically , when ur ps3 or PC is lying idle( maybe downloading torrents or demos, or u if u don't care abt ur electricity bill  (just kidding)), this program will use ur processor to compute folding of proteins to find cures for cancer and Alzheimer disease. Scientists need to figure out how protiens fold into the shape they exist in our bodies to replicate the process for curing diseases. For that they simulate the folding of protiens.

This tak would require lots of computers, which is financially not feasible. But by using people's PCs and ps3(when Idle), they can hae access to (theoretically) unlimited processing power. You will not lose anything, but will silently help in their research.

The "Life with Playstation" application lets you browse news feeds and plays music while the protien folding is simulated in the backgroud. You can watch the protiens fold if you want. IT IS NOT A GAME OR SOMETHING YOU IMMENSELY ENJOY ! but you can set ur ps3 to folding when u r downloading demos or videos as the ps3 is anyways switched on.
