You play the first half of the game as Ellie, and the second half as Abby (the character featured in the PGW 2017 trailer played by Laura Bailey) Joel dies at the hands of Abby One of the surgeons Joel killed had a daughter called Abby The Firefly massacre destroyed her whole life, she's been looking for revenge ever since Knew who Ellie was because of her dad talking about their shot at a cure, figured out Joel from Firefly records Cult attacks Ellie's settlement and she, Jesse, and Dinah are part of the group sent to track down and attack it - Jesse is killed during this Ellie is now violently angry and goes to Seattle looking for the cults home to wipe it out, meets Joel there because he heard about Jesse and came back to help her Abby finds Ellie because she's been in conflict with the cult too, so when Ellie hunts them to Seattle and is set to attack them with Joel her group find them and attack She kills Joel herself, takes Ellie back to camp debating what to do with her since for all her hate she doesn't blame her for the massacre Ellie butchers her group to escape and Abby is now motivated to hunt her down Second half of the game is spent as Abby chasing Ellie Ellie continues hunting the cult while you chase her down Ending is Ellie and Abby fighting to the death You kill Ellie as Abby, and she leaves while realizing she's not really "won" in any meaningful way since all she's done is get more of her loved ones killed for the sake of her killing Joel and then Ellie Ending is "cycle of revenge" with the loose implication Ellie's friends will hunt Abby now in return Leaked levels Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
The Panda Posted April 28, 2020 Report Share Posted April 28, 2020 (edited) Reads like an edgelord teenager's ultimate fantasy. Straight up psychopathic. I almost threw up a little in my mouth. Killing the main characters(s) ONLY to serve some message is what creatively bankrupt writers would usually come up with when they have nothing interesting to say. What's even more bewildering is that you play as the villain! I wonder what ND were smoking! I thought one of the earlier theories of Ellie taking revenge on a religious cult for the supposedly murder of her partner itself was very unoriginal and now I wish THAT was the actual case instead. radicaldude Posted April 28, 2020 Report Share Posted April 28, 2020 THe internet is full with nothing else but hatred towards this game. This makes me wonder what exactly is the reason. Some are saying the story is trash. Well, naughty dog never re-invents the wheel anyways. Uncharted was like Indiana Jones, TLOU was like any other dystopian post apocalyptic story. However what naught dog does best is its presentation. I am 100 percent sure that all of us can anticipate what the story in TLOU2 would be like, but most of us are still excited as we know how genius ND is when it comes to gameplay, character development etc. I am sure even after those leaks, a majority of gameplay mechanics/dialogues/set pieces etc have not been revealed that actually connects you to the characters. More than the story, I prefer gameplay mechanics that ND loads its games with it. As John Carmack once said, "Story in a game is like a story in a porn movie. It is there, but it doesnt really matter much". Though I am sure TLOU2 still has story sequences that we would love but the gameplay alone would push it towards the coveted GOTY tag. One of my fav. things about joel was the brute force he was, killing dudes with those punches, melee weapons. Seems like abby is right up there, cant wait to play as her. Yep, it was the gameplay and combat encounters that made me fell in love with this game, like car pushing sequence while killing clickers, generator room, etc the intensity in the encounters was off the charts. Didnt care about the story at first, but after the second half liked both joel/eliie and how it was presented. And the final scene where joel kill everyone and saves ellie was wtf moment and made me love the game even more. Most probably ND will do it again. And all these leaks sound interesting to me. But reaching the level of joel's character? Thats going to be a hard one. I just hope that dude dies giving a proper fight and breaking sh*t before going down. Now there was a love making scene leaked between them, diana had a scar on her face and arrow wound on her back implying it happened after Ellie/abby fight. Then the leaked cutscene where diana asks ellie not to go out there, ellie is wearing joels jacket. looking for revenge. Most probably happens after the above encounter. Probably farm level as per leaks. Still epilogue and one more level left. I hope here we get to play as ellie and fight abby or make up for a sequel. Else ND would have launched the game in may itself. And those elements of crafting weapons, desperation, frantic fist fights, the scale of those maps, lighting effects, clickers attacking...damn, goosebumps already!
