Monster Hunter: World™ introduces a living, breathing ecosystem in which players strive to become the ultimate hunter. Explore a vast new continent and slay terrifying monsters in heart-pounding co-op battles for up to four players.

Quote

According to Capcom, the game will feature "a living breathing ecosystem" and will support up to 4-player drop-in cooperative play – with players in both the West and Japan able to play together. It will also feature "seamless gameplay", with players and monsters able to move around the world with no loading screens. In other words, it's a proper open world, with a night and day cycle.

Meanwhile, you'll be able to "pit monsters against one another to lure the main target creature to the right place", ie, the elaborate traps you'll lay in order to secure your quarry.

"Taking on the role of a hunter, players are tasked with going on a research expedition to a newly discovered continent known only as "new world" as they venture on quests to discover more about this mysterious land," the release reads.

The first worldwide launch in the series on PlayStation®4 and Xbox One in early 2018. PC release to follow at a later date.

It's online only?

i doubt
most monster hunter games have you in a village, you have shops for armor and weapons which are made from monster parts that you collect, there is a village elder from whom you take quests to kill monsters
and you have servant cats who cook you meals that boost your stats
you can take up to 3 folks to you on a hunt,so that's the "online" part

There is a game called Toukiden 2. Its like Monster Hunter which just recently came out for PC.Is this game similar to that one?

Toukiden/God Eater are MH Clones wanting to make dat MH monies in Japan from Vita owners after MH went Nintendo 3DS exclusive

Lots of new features  compared to the MH games on PSP

Don't like the new monsters tho, literally a giant Komodo dragon lizard and a T-rex,Capcom ran out of creativity it seems

The video is from a live-stream,so it looks like a blurry mess.

It's drop in drop out. Kinda like diablo or metal gear games on psp

As i recall from the interview, apart from drop in drop out feature, they are planning to offer the traditional way (Form a party in the village before heading out) and i think there might be single player option also though not sure about that.
