Pretty comfy and safe build actually. Guard 5 and Guard Up blocks almost every possible attacks. I use Tool Specialist to enable faster mantle cooldown times, so can easily toggle between Rocksteady & Temporal mantle. Health jewels are no longer needed with Fatalis 4 piece armour that grants 200 health & stamina directly. Divine Blessing would be overkill for this build, would be good if we're battling Fatalis though.

Ye true, fatalis skills makes health boost redundant. But, goddamn that lizard hits hard.

It does indeed. So much chip damage and knockback If you're shielded. DBs it is for me for Fatalis.

For me its GS. Makes the fight easier to manage and also hitting true charge slash on his head is satisfying as f**k.

Try switching out the armor parts with xeno'jiva parts for its special skill. Spare shot skill, along with ammo up would be nice along with this set. Spread shot, xenojiva divinity and ammo up are must for your set, then max out health. Less death more dps my man. Then is preference imo.

I already have a set with xeno spareshot and ammo up, with 3x vitality jewels :P

Actually I used to use that set as my bread and butter before i came to know you can farm Behemoth without needing to kill him or go through the 4 phases :scarerun:

I am now just farming normal ED's for their crowns, so this DPS build with crit eye and weakness exploit makes hunts 2-3 mins faster, yes, it's risky, sometime i do cart if i get sloppy :fear: , but it's better in general tbh, more satisfying to see the crit on nearly every trigger pull.

Anyways, nice seeing another hunter on this thread

Yep, non-shielded spread 3 HBG is like going YOLO in the hunt. High risk, high reward. But it's so satisfying to see those crit damage numbers pop-up when you're right in the monsters face. :P

I use 1x shield mod and 2x close range up.

I am YOLO but not that much.

I have so much fun with HBG tho, it's the all in one good weapon class, High dps, partbreaking, stun/KO, sleep, paralyze, wyvern's fire, also you can land most of your hits, on GS i have missed so many TCSs

Ye range weapons are fun. Especially if you have your decorations.

Lol is understandable. When I first started playing Monster hunter games, I had trouble with Great Sword too and quickly switched to dual blades or other fast weapons.

But then, weapon like great sword or hammer with their long arse animation, do make it good to learn monster movements.

I was playing around with the GS for a while in TGL (for practice) and landing a TCS really takes precision and proper timing, but when it connects, it's like a lighting bolt being struck by Zeus himself. The animation commitment time is really long, In that amount of time, I can easily complete 2 Blade dances with my DBs. Thanks to Iceborne, you can use the slinger burst combo to skip the second charge and straight to TCS. Still haven't tried the Frostcraft build yet. :P

Steam says 220 hours, apparently it's the second most hours in my library, at the top is dota 2 with 1973 hours

I was waiting for a polished MH entry on PC/Console for years literally, had a lot of fun with this.

Give it some time and Iceborne will literally propel you past that number. :P

@PhantomShade Discount alert on Iceborne on Steam. Not sure if it's within the price range you're hoping for but just a heads-up:

So i've killed Banbaro till now, tho didn't get to click a screenshot with him, any suggestions for decent Spread 3 HBGs so early in Iceborne, or should i just stick with my trusty Nergigante HBG ?

Or should I switch to some other weapon ? I've had my eye on IG for a long time.

Also people are singing praises online for some Tobey Maguire HBG that is mainly for pierce, and apparently pierce is actually good in Iceborne? is this true? like it's not just situational vs Bazeljuice and Xeno etc

Skip the early game HBG spread builds. Your first and top priority should be to wrap up the storyline and then raise your master rank up to even be able to access some of the best event quests. So try out any weapon you feel like. It's time to experiment. You can easily farm some early game jewel with the floral frostbite event quest which is dead easy and great for some base level 4 jewels.

Now that you have your big boy pants on, it's time to take on the higher tier monsters. They hid hard and hit fast. So be careful. Get your mantles upgraded. Make sure to complete all optional events.

The quickest non-event spread 3 HBG build is the Zinogre one (Loyal Thunder). This video will show you the best set-up for one with lower tier decos too. As for the Tobi one you mention, I think it's the Crimson Kadachi Lion, if I'm not mistaken, that would be a Pierce 3 build. I didn't touch any spread 3 builds till Loyal Thunder came along, it's literally dubbed as Glutton 2.0.
