I mean if you want to install linux then why even bother buying a PS3 for it. Hell any 8 year old hardware can run Linux. OK so here is the deal. You will pay Microsoft towards XBOX live arcade games (Insanely priced) but you wont use PS3's Linux to play similar games for free. PS3-Linux means all those excellent Linux games (Look into the arcade section) including Supertux, GLTron, EeRacer, Civilization-Clone and many others are available for free. harrydeo Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Share Posted August 22, 2008 I can easily bet that 95% of PS3 owners over here don't even have the hardware to enjoy that and add another 80% who don't have 1080p Supported TV. Its nice that Blu-Ray is bundled in PS3 and i do agree that PS3 offers more hardware features over Xbox360 but if majority people don't have the equipment to enjoy it then its useless. Now thats based on speculation. Gaming has to be HD. I think very few people use the default cables (Composite) with their console (XBOX360 or PS3). Games like Drake's Fortune or MGS4 are treat because they multiple format sound formats (of course with other features as well ). Thats simply the impossible experience with XBOX360. MGS4: DOLBY 5.1, LPCM 5.1 Drake's Fortune: Dolby 5.1: DTS HD Technologies are their to leverage. If that's not the case PS2 is way better (and cheaper) option. All of us here have computers able enough to run Linux if we so wish. So why would I want to install Linux on my PS3 except for just because I can? I do. I was gonna buy an Apple TV for all the videos on my comp, but its not necessary anymore. PS3 is the central hub for all the Divx/Xvid/HD videos in my room, heck the 160GB hard disk that I put in last month is already full with it, might have to replace it with 320GB. I don't have a desktop PC with big monitor and huge hard drive, just a laptop. So PS3's media capabilities is a big plus for me. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If not anything else, it casts a shadow on all your views expressed here. Cracking and the eventual pirating of the games can be disastrous not only for the console manufacturer but also for game developers, publishers and everyone else involved in it. I certainly do not need to point out how the pirated games industry is hurting the PC scene so much. So there is hardly a thing to gloat if a console is cracked. For all your brand loyalty, it just shows that you are a Sony fanboy first and a gamer second. For all our Xbots and PSf**s bickering, here at GI, being a gamer is what truly counts.
