UPS for an LCD TV ???

Hi guys,

A friend of mine recently bought a Sony KLV-52W300A (thats a whooping 52" LCD TV ). He got the "Made in Japan" model imported from Dubai. Well, now the problem is he stays in Ulhasnagar, which gets hit by frequent UN*f**kING*EXPECTED power failures, and he's too afraid that it's gonna burn his TV or something :)

So, now, he asked me to inquire about which UPS (@how much power, etc) would be sufficient for his LCD to keep running/working until he can get up from his seat to reach out for the power button and properly switch it off ?

So guys...can you help me out with this ?

Thanx a lot in advance :P

1 kva should do it - although it might be overkill. I forget the exact price but I think APC is about 6.5-8k.

My 26" LCD TV plus 4 other gadgets are hooked up to an APC 500VA and no issues. I essentially need it till the power backup of the building kicks in (anything from 2 secs to 30 - depends on the laziness of the guard). And I have a 650 va intek (less than Rs. 2k) on the 360 / 19" LCD monitor / speakers / modem. Again no issues till now.

Suggest see the power rating of the TV and take a pick. And your friend could call up a company like Sukam to find out more about UPS and power backups.
