BD-J

Besides Linux PS3 also provides BD-J. BD-J refers to the application programming environment that support Blu-ray systems, and allows Content Providers to deliver highly-interactive, highly-programmable titles to end users. BD-J is based on the Personal Basis Profile (PBP) of the CDC Configuration of Java ME, and earlier on the JavaTV specifications.

PS3 support advanced features such as expanded local storage (persistent memory), picture-in-picture, or internet access. Collectively, these features (other than internet access) are referred to as "Bonus View", and the addition of internet access is called "BD Live."

Good thing is BD-J allows not only Blue-Ray disks to have more content but you can run stand alone BD-J programs as well.

PS3 Filer with NES emulation support (Early release, dont yell out if something doesn't work):

PS3 filer is a Windows explorer like tool for PS3. Now it runs your old NES games as well.

Download it at: http://www.mediafire.com/?ekgcpjdlh3f

Installation:

* Unzip the ps3filer.zip archive

* Copy NES ROMs to the AVCHD directory

* Copy the AVCHD directory to the root of a USB/Flash drive

* Go to the device in the XMB video menu and launch “AVCHD”

Guys test it and let me know. I have source for PS3 snake as well. I am building today and will post it after sometime.

Interesting work there Harry!

That was not developed by me.

But yeah I am currently working on Tutorial for BD-J. I will push the sample code today. probably some snake game. Actually BD-J is a J2ME implementation. So chances are mobile games (jar files) would work here as well.

Things have just started to happen around.

But do u really want to play NES games on a PS3?

May be a nintendo fan wants to

Depends. With the current implementation (without sound) is a little off. But hey, we should improve it. Any ways few NES still tops the chart of all time popular games.
