Who here uses Reliance BroadNet ???

Hi guys,

I wanted to know who here uses Reliance BroadNet broadband internet services ? Is it good ? Should I go for it ? I live in Ulhasnagar, and I spoke with the Reliance customer care executive, and he says that their services are available in Ulhasnagar. I've told em to drop by my place for the application procedure, etc, etc.

Well, you know, the problem is in Ulhasnagar, there are frequent power cuts, and as a result all the other ISPs net go down except BSNL coz their net comes through phone lines :) I've applied for it, but there is a 6-month waiting list going on.

Well, the main problem is the other ISPs who provide net connection (like Tata, Sify) provide their net through "hubs" There is a hub every 150 meters, and the problem is if a particular hub's area's power goes down, so does the hub and so does my net connection

I spoke to this guy on phone and he wasn't able to answer my question. He said that a person will come to you for completing the application procedure, documents, etc, and that I can speak with him.

So, does anyone know how Reliance BroadNet works ?

Any insight in this will be highly appreciated. Thanx a lot in advance :)

Edit: Just to let you guys know, I have a backup UPS to my computer for almost 8 hours, and if a particular device needs to be connected to power for the Reliance BroadNet net to work (like a modem or something), then its not a problem at all :)

I don't know how much help this is going to be since I can only base their service on the quality provided in my locality but I had a horrible experience with Reliance Broadnet. Their downtime > uptime and the frequent disconnects prohibit you from making any use of their service. Furthermore their engineers are not qualified whatsoever so good luck when you lodge a complaint!

Another thing is that I've disconnected their service twice since Feb. and they are still sending their bills!

My verdict: AVOID

+1 they took 3 months to come to my home to disconnect a connection...and kept sending me bills till i had to finally yell at them.....

The downtime is always greater then uptime and frusturation levels are higher then your air intake....

AVOID them for a happy life.

This really made me laugh...hahahaha :)

They were my only hope for a stable net connection besides BSNL, which is taking f**king so long to clear their waiting list

Anyways, thanx a lot for the replies guys. Really appreciate it :)

I use Reliance Broadnet. Their wired connection is amazingly awesome when it comes to online multiplayer. specially xbox live. Karan and Rohan can atest to that :naughty: (i lag very rarely to international opponents in halo 3 even though i only have a 300 kbps connection.) Their wireless connections (wimax) however should be avoided like the plague. Its just plain bad for multiplayer.

P.s:- One thing i forgot to mention. The wired connection uses "hubs" as well. so i guess its out of the question for you. atleast here in mumbai the powercuts are so rare that its negligible :3

r u talkin abt REL BIG tv?? itz mpeg 4 technology.... dvd quality... not hd

n itz been in testing phase since months now.... waz in testing in pune too more than 6 mnths back....

Buddy, am not talkn about BigTV. ;) The same is also present in Delhi. What I am asking is Reliance IPTV. This is the one which is a venture between Rel and Microsoft as I said earlier. This will have High Definition channels as well as the SD ones. :naughty:

Has anyone already experienced this?

think abt football matches in HD..... WIN :jumpy:

Haven.. :naughty:
