KnackChap
Perhaps you've noticed that our October issue of EGM is on its way out the doors of 1UP Manor and into your homes, and perhaps that bit of knowledge has left you wondering what's waiting for you in everyone's favorite section of the magazine: Quartermann! Well, since we know how much you love getting your monthly taste of gaming gossip, we're giving a sneak peek at some of the hottest rumors in this month's Qmann column. We've been hearing for months that Max Payne 3 is in the works, but this month we got something a bit juicier to add to this rumor: Original Max Payne developers Remedy Entertainment are currently too busy working on Alan Wake to even consider developing the new Payne sequel. Instead, the next-gen noir shooter will be handled by the same internal Rockstar team that created The Warriors. And perhaps even more exciting, we've got word that Rockstar is still hard at work on an unannounced PlayStation 3 exclusive. Who's making it? Why, just the guys behind a little-known Rockstar release from earlier in the year.... But that's not all, loose-lip addicts. Remember earlier this summer when LucasArts finally announced Star Wars: The Clone Wars -- Lightsaber Duels, the lightsaber-wielding Wii game that everyone had been waiting for? And then not a month later, when Nintendo announced WiiMotion Plus during E3? Well, apparently LucasArts hadn't heard anything about this new technology, so Lightsaber Duels will not be implementing it. The understandably ticked-off publisher is already in talks about another Wii lightsaber game that will use MotionPlus for sometime next year, according to our sources. Like what you're hearing? Then be sure to check out the full Quartermann Rumor Mill column in the October issue of EGM, arriving for subscribers this week. Sure, ocassionally Quartermann gets a miss, but he calls them correctly far more often! http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3169615

SchizoidFreud
Source: “Brand new” Rockstar IP “may never see light of day” Speaking under conditions of strict anonymity to VG247 this morning, a source close to the matter has said that Rockstar North is working on a “brand new IP.” Cryptically, the spy added: “It’s not 100 percent sure it’ll ever see light of day, anyway.” The comments come after EGM published a rumour yesterday that the GTA developer is working on a new PS3 game, as well as putting together a third Max Payne. Our source couldn’t confirm whether or not the new IP was a PS3 exclusive. Rockstar North is also working on DLC for GTA IV at the moment, the release date of which is still to be confirmed. Aftrunner
can u explain? High definition is a picture/video thats at a resolution of 1024×768. If you have ever played a PC game at that resolution or above you have played the game in High Definition. Considering the fact that for the past decade (maybe more) almost all PC games have had a resolution option of 1024×768 that you can play the game in you have mostly played PC games in HD. So yeah Half life 1 was HD, so was Quake 3, so was Age of empires 2 and so was just about any game from the PC world over the last decade. See thats the reason PC gamers are always at the cutting edge of technology.
Don Karnage
^ Whoa, I thought HD started at 1280x720 and the so called "full HD" was 1920x1080.

CarbonCore
^ Whoa, I thought HD started at 1280x720 and the so called "full HD" was 1920x1080. Yup, also PC and TV standards for resolution are different (SD/ED/HD vs VGA/XGA/WXGA etc) so don't mix them together and say PC had HD gaming for over 10 years. Anyway, i doubt this "new game" will be PS3 exclusive. Exclusives. Exclusives have changed. There's no such thing as 'PS3 exclusive' when it comes to third parties
Aftrunner
WRONG Qouting wikipedia for factual accuracy is a bit like qouting Fifty cents for clarity and elocution. But I figure this is as close to accurate as you can get. Plus I cant be arsed to look further http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_video "High-definition (HD) video generally refers to any video system of higher resolution than standard-definition (SD) video, most commonly at display resolutions of 1280×720 (720p) or 1920×1080 (1080i or 1080p). " 1024X768 is the most common "low" HD signal input used. Almost all plasma TVs input at this resolution. Look futher down the article above for High-definition display resolutions. The same holds true for PC games, the resolution you play at would be HD. Of course the character textures might still be 16bit but that doesnt change the fact that you are playing at HD resolution. And have been for years.
Dienekes
Someone Else Says Max Payne 3 Is In Development Back in August, EGM reported a rumor about Rockstar working on a third Max Payne. Now someone else - Xbox World 360 - is saying that Rockstar (or rather, Rockstar Vancouver, who are an internal Rockstar studio) is indeed working on the Max Payne 3. Original developers Remedy are still working on the "will it ever come out" game, Alan Wake, in case your wondering what they are up to. Note: Picture is a mock-up.
