IGN watermark next to the mouth of Amaterasu..

They picked it up straight from IGN but forgot to remove their watermark. Capcom seriously needs to fire its boxart depatment (or whatever they call it)

Alright, finally played the demo (properly) over the weekend. Finished the first level and got to the end of the second. Has anyone been able to kill the big guy at the end? I led him through THREE explosive barrel traps and he still managed to decap me.

I remember the E305 reveal trailer showing runners instead of the RE4 shamblers! It looks like they've gone back on their initial promises at least. On the other hand, I really the buddy AI. It never put a foot wrong and looked stupid (or artificial). Top marks to Capcom for an AI companion that actually contributes to the fight.

@MT: They moved to action/horror with RE4 didn't they? This is just a continuation of the same mechanics. And there is potential to slow down the pacing in the middle, just like in the latter sections of RE4. That flaming man really made me jump

I'm just saying that any hope we had that they would revert to their original roots have effectively been smashed with that boxart. Terrible unimaginative and unoriginal.

Well it'd foolish to expect them to go back to RE roots after RE4's success. At least RE4 still maintained the classic RE dilemma of 'more zombies, less bullets'. In RE4, you'd count your shotgun shells before every shot, use your knife frequently to save bullets, and curse every time you missed a sniper shot, not because you missed the target, but because you wasted one of only five sniper bullets in your inventory. From the demo, it seems like RE5 is stepping away from that formula too. The basic gameplay is down to just running across an empty path, finding a safe camping spot, shoot as many zombies as possible, and just when you think its getting crowded again, run and find another safe camping spot. Rinse/repeat until everyone is dead or some invisible timer runs out to trigger a cutscene. I didn't have to look at my bullet count at all, not even once in the entire demo. And I think I shot more lead in that 15min demo than the entire first level of RE4.

Could be because it was a siege level. I'm sure they have lulls in the game (as I was telling MT). They can't be stupid enough to take away the mood setting walk-abouts.

haven't played any RE before but that sounds awfully repetitive.

Its not any more repetitive than your average shooter, but thats the sad part. It now belongs to a shooter genre more than survival horror. RE4 removed the horror part, RE5 is now removing the survival part.

Hope - it is the quintessential human delusion, simultaneously the source of your greatest strength and your greatest weakness. :(

Still there were some times when I ran out of Bullets

But then again, you can always ask Sheva for some ammunition :(

I'm glad at least Silent Hill is sticking to it's roots... I'm having a blast with Homecoming. Too bad there aren't many takers.

Seriously, if they're taking away the lack of bullets/healing items then it's a pure shooter and we already have loads of them. Here's hoping Dead Space 2 will focus more on horror than cutting off limbs...
